    Spiritual issues, physical abuse, depression, anger, substance abuse, intimacy disorders, abandonment, shame / guilt, addictions - (alcohol, drugs, work, food, social media, sports, etc.), insecurities, stress, worthlessness / self-loathing, eating disorders, obsessive/compulsive disorder, mental health disorders, pornography / sexual addiction, sexual impurity, anxiety / worry, fear, pride, family issues, gambling, codependency, and more.

    We understand that your relationship and communication with this applicant is personal, private, and confidential with regard to life-controlling issues. If you have knowledge of any life-controlling issues, we would encourage you to speak to the applicant and encourage them to seriously consider communicating directly with our leadership about any issues that would effect their commitment, our community, or their participation in the program. This communication would be very important before entering a commitment to serve as a leader in Christian community.

  • The Nature of This Commitment

    Gleanings Summer Staff is a very rigorous program for Christian young adults who are able to make a whole-hearted, mature, long-term commitment for hard work, vulnerable discipleship, and close community. Our website says that applicants must have

    • Hunger for the Lord: This program is for mature Christian believers who have a evident hunger to grow in their daily walk with Jesus.
    • Desire to Serve: This program is extremely work intensive and requires a strong work ethic.
    • Commitment: Each team member must be fully committed to the summer staff program (see packet) and ready to participate whole-heartedly.
    • Sharpening: All summer staff must welcome leadership, encouragement, accountability, correction, honest feedback, and rebuke regarding all areas of life.

    Summer Staff team members will be entering a Christian community where they will live together with other young adults. These relationships must be pure, honoring, mature, and above reproach. They must be mature enough to respond well to questions, concerns, correction, or rebuke. There is also an atmosphere of transparency where team members will be invited to share personal testimony.
