• IMYC Volunteer Application Form

  • WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

By filling in this Volunteer Application Form, you are applying to be a volunteer with IMYC. By applying to be a volunteer with us you are committing to working within the ethos and values of the Methodist Church in Ireland. To find out more about the Methodist Church click here.

In this form, we will ask for the following information:

    • Name, age, address & contact details
    • Information on any health conditions, dietary requirements or additional needs
    • The details of 2 references, who are not related to you (name, email, address & contact number)
    • What church you attend & your Safeguarding Record (date of last Safeguarding check & training, and Minister/Designated Person details)

Before each event, you will need to complete a Volunteer Registration Form to let us know that you plan to attend & on what team you wish to join (Stewards, Prayer Team etc.). On the Volunteer Registration Form you will be able to let us know if any of your personal information/contact details have changed, and we can update this info in our database.

2 digit day, 2 digit month, 4 digit year

All new volunteers with IMYC events will be required to complete this form for the first event that you are volunteering with. For all future events, you will be able to fill in a Volunteer Registration Form, which will be much shorter!

If you have any questions, please do get in touch: imyc@irishmethodist.org

  • Please let us know which one describes you best:*
  • Did you volunteer with IMYC for the first time at either Autumn Soul 2024 or Soul Mates 2025?*
  • If this is your first time volunteering with us, or it's your first time since 2023 - please give the following details of your minister & one other adult who knows you well (but who isn't related to you!) who can act as a reference.

If your minister is related to you, please give the details of another church leader!

  • Do you have any First Aid Training?*
  • If yes, would you be willing to be called upon if necessary?*

  • Do you attend a Methodist Church?*
  • GENERAL SAFEGUARDING REQUIREMENTS

The Safeguarding Policy of the Methodist Church in Ireland requires all leaders, staff & volunteers to have the following completed every 3 years:

    • a valid MCI Safeguarding Police Check (Access NI/Garda Vetting)
    • have attended an MCI Safeguarding Training session

If you have already completed these through other organisations or your workplace, you will still need to complete the MCI process. This is because we do not have access to the information held by other organisations/workplaces & so we have no way of verifying or standing over your check or training.

    POST-APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Please note that an application will not be the only condition of employment (voluntary or paid), but rather should be part of a process involving a valid vetting check, training, interview (formal or informal) and references stating suitability (formal or informal) for the role(s) in question. The Methodist Church in Ireland can provide assistance in this process if necessary.

Within the Methodist Church in Ireland, these vetting checks are carried out on a jurisdictional basis ie Garda Vetting in the Republic of Ireland and AccessNI in Northern Ireland.

Applicants should note that any applicant having a criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to obtaining a position within the Methodist Church in Ireland.  The Methodist Church in Ireland has a Rehabilitation of Offenders policies for ex-offenders.  It is available on request from the Safeguarding Office.

AccessNI is governed by their Code of Practice.  It can be viewed here: https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/sites/default/files/publications/accessni-code-of-practice.pdf

    Access NI or Garda Vetting?

For Autumn Soul you must fill in the Garda Vetting form if you havent already started it.

Access NI & Garda Vetting do not share their information across the border. This means that:

    • For events held in NI, all leaders, staff & volunteers will be required to complete an Access NI check, even if you live in the Republic of Ireland & already have a valid Garda Vetting check.
    • For events held in the ROI, all leaders, staff & volunteers will be required to complete a Garda Vetting check, even if you live in Northern Ireland & already have a valid Access NI check.
  • If you need to complete an Access NI or Garda Vetting Check, you can download the forms below. If you are under-18, please get in touch for the Under-18 Application Pack.

    Download Access NI Application Pack.

    Download Garda Vetting Appplication Pack.

If you need to attend a Safeguarding Training session, you can find the available dates here. On the training registration form, please put IMYC as your congregation & Gillian Gilmore as your minister/designated person.
