    Program Year 2024

  • The NYWGF Export Program  assists New York wineries seeking to explore international marketing opportunities. Promotional efforts are funded by the USDA's Market Access Program (MAP) grant. The Export Program for 2024 will start on July 1st and all New York State wineries are invited to participate.

Current MAP funded activities focus on four (4) Target Markets:

    1. Asia-Pacific (Japan)
    2. Asia-Pacific (South Korea/Vietnam)
    3. Canada
    4. Western Europe

The cost for the first market is $150 and additional markets are $75 each.

Pending the outcome of an additional USDA RAPP grant award in June, NYWGF may be adding the following (4) target markets:

    1. Caribbean (Barbados, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Aruba)
    2. South Korea*
    3. United Kingdom
    4. Vietnam*

*The Asia Pacific market would evolve into two distinct target markets if RAPP funding is awarded: South Korea and Vietnam.

Should these markets become available, they will be $75 each.

If the Export Program seems like a good fit for you, please use this form to sign up. The information collected here will be confidential and only accessible to NYWGF staff. Information may be shared in aggregate for educational and grant reporting purposes. Please feel free to contact Valerie Venezia Ross at (518) 229-3765 or email valerieross@nywgf.org with any questions.

  • Types of Travel Opportunities

NYWGF’s Export Program trade missions are supported with "generic" USDA funding, with the purpose to promote the New York wine industry in international markets as a whole. Fully-funded travel participants are expected to attend all NYWGF planned activities to speak and educate broadly about New York wines. If partially-funded, or self-funded travel options are provided, flexibility for individual brand sales and personal time will be available.

  • NYWGF agrees to provide information on travel opportunities, funding level options, and associated expectations with as much advance notice as possible. In the future, there will be an application form with a unique set of requirements for each NYWGF Export Program Travel Opportunity. Submission of a completed application is required to be considered for fully or partially funded travel opportunities.

  • Areas of Expertise

Please note that all representatives are required to speak publicly, either at a trade tasting or in seminar format, during the marketing event. Below, please note who would travel on behalf of your winery and their public speaking experience. It would also be helpful to note their experience with New York State AVAs outside of where they currently work and their preferred seminar topic.

  • Export Advisory Committee 2024

Please note that all Export Program wineries are invited to be a part of the Advisory Committee throughout the year. There will be at least two official group meetings held in the program year (Summer 2024 and Spring 2025), and you may be contacted to provide feedback on marketing opportunities as they arise throughout the year.

  • Mandatory Reporting Requirment

By registering for the Export program, you agree to provide export sales data to NYWGF in a mandatory Annual Survey and any calls for quarterly Success Stories. The information submitted will be confidential and only aggregate totals will be shared with the USDA.
