Entry Rules & Requirements

• Hairdressing & Barbering Business entries are to include a team photo and all other entries are to include a headshot photo of the entrant.

•  By entering the awards, you agree to abide by the competition rules.

•  Entry fees apply and are non-refundable.

• Entries and supporting documents (where requested) are due by Thursday 31 July 2025. No entries will be accepted after this date.

• Shortlisted finalists may be required to verify the information they have submitted if the evidence provided is not sufficient. All information received and submitted will be treated in the strictest confidence.

• Should the entrant change salons/barbershops after entering the competition their details will remain as the salon or training provider they entered under.

•  Entrants can submit their entry physically or digitally (e.g. a document, booklet or video presentation). Physical entries are to be sent to NZHA, C/- 84 Severn Street, Island Bay, Wellington 6023. If you would like your entry returned to you, please include a prepaid, self-addressed courier bag.

•  Entries and supporting documents are due by 31 July 2025. No entries will be accepted after this date.

Judging Process and Criteria

• Stage one of judging is carried out by NZ Hair Awards representatives.

• Stage two of judging is carried out by hair, or barbering industry representatives, and/or business representatives.

By submitting entries into the New Zealand Hair Awards (NZHA), you agree to the following:

• The New Zealand Hair Awards reserves the right to cancel a category with less than three entries submitted. Where possible, every attempt will be made to submit your entry into  another category where your entry also meets the criteria.
• You declare that the information provided in your entry is true and correct.
• The NZHA and H&BNZ may reproduce an entry or entries in any existing or future
medium of its choice for three years from the closing date of entries. The NZHA and
H&BNZ undertakes not to trade that entry or entries for any gain or for any other use to any party, apart for promotional purposes, without first obtaining the written permission of the copyright holder(s).
• The NZHA and H&BNZ acknowledges the moral rights provisions of the Copyright Act 1994 including the right of the hairstylist/barber to be identified as the author of any entry or entries. To protect the artistic integrity of the entry or entries the New Zealand Hair Awards and H&BNZ will not intentionally edit, alter, demean or misrepresent the entry or entries in any way.
• The Entrant indemnifies the NZHA and H&BNZ against any claim(s) arising from any breaches of the intellectual property rights of any third party referred to in these terms and conditions of entry.
• All entries will be treated with care, but no responsibility will be accepted in the case of loss or damage. Insurance is the Entrant’s sole responsibility.
• By entering this competition, the Entrant undertakes that they have obtained the
permission of all parties associated with the entry or entries for the NZHA and H&BNZ to
hold their personal information (including name, contact details and place of
employment or study) for the purposes of promoting the NZHA & H&BNZ, its
competitions and events.
• Should a situation which is not covered by the rules arise, the Judges, the judges shall address it and their decision will be final.
• All entries are treated with confidence and each judge is required to sign a confidentiality agreement, which prevents them from divulging any information they gain in relation to entrants.
• Judges will not judge any organisations where a conflict of interest arises.
• Decisions of the judges are final, and no correspondence will be entered into
• Applicants must disclose any issues that may compromise the integrity of the awards or are likely to cause their business to stop trading or operating in the 12 months following the submission of the business’s entry to the NZHA. These issues may include legal action, law changes, possible loss of funding, restructuring, or refinancing or other risks.
• Should a winner change salons or barbershops, the trophy is to remain with the winner.

Along with an entry, entrants must provide:

• A completed entry form.

• All evidence and supporting documents.

• Hairdressing Business and Barbering Business awards only - A digital hi-res, landscape/horizontal photo of the salon or barbershop team. This may be used on social media, on the NZHA website, and in the presentation at NZHA event.

All other categories are to a headshot photo of the entrant.
