Certificated Idaho public school teachers and elementary school principals are invited to submit their nominations for appointment to one of two open positions on the Professional Standards Commission (PSC). Members are appointed by the Idaho State Board of Education to serve a three-year term.
The PSC makes recommendations to the State Board of Education and renders decisions that provide Idaho with competent, qualified, ethical educators dedicated to rigorous standards, pre-K-12 student achievement, and improved professional practice. The PSC is empowered by law to investigate and determine if a violation of the law or the Idaho Code of Ethics for Professional Educators has occurred. Additionally, the PSC accepts proposals for consideration from public school districts and charter schools, educator preparation providers, public education stakeholder groups, and members of the public to help improve the quality of educator preparation, educator certification, and educator ethics in the state of Idaho.
Meetings are held five times per year. Meetings are held in Boise in September, April, and June and held via Zoom in December and February. While appointed members do not receive a wage to serve on the PSC, eligible PSC members receive lodging, as well as travel and applicable meal reimbursement. Substitute reimbursement is available for school districts and charter schools who have classroom teachers who serve on the PSC.
To be considered for appointment to the PSC, please fill out the form below and upload a current resume and letter of recommendation from a supervisor or colleague by Friday, June 14, 2024. Individuals appointed to the PSC will be notified in August 2024.
