The Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation is partnering with CMS and is seeking self-nominations to participate in the Summer 2024 CMS Diversity & Inclusion Internship Program.
The CMS internship program aims to promote equity and diversity in representation with opportunities for undergraduate students with over 50 different state agencies. Additionally, interns will connect with the CMS D&I team once a week to participate in identify-based professional development sessions all while receiving a generous monthly stipend.
The cohort model we utilize empowers you—our community partners—to leverage your relationship with our team to nominate undergraduate student (college freshman-senior) candidates for available opportunities. The success of the cohort model and the Community Partner Internship Program is documented within the FY23 Hispanic Employment Plan Report.
The ILLCF is seeking applicants to join the summer cohort. The summer cohort will begin on June 10, 2024, and run through August 2, 2024. All interns will be required to present an in-person final project at CMS Headquarters (555 W. Monroe) on Friday, August 2, 2024. Community partner organizations who selected an intern and the host supervisors will be invited to the final presentation.
Program Descriptions are below. Please review and select which program you'd be interested in. Please note: You are required to be in Springfield for this opportunity and need to be in the Junior or Senior year of your undergraduate degree, depending on the job description you are interested in. If you do not live near Springfield, you are responsible for any living accommodations should you receive the nomination.
The ILLCF will review all applications and if selected by the ILLCF, the intern will not need to complete any additional applications or interviews.
Interns will:
- Receive pro-rated compensation totaling $2,600 a month for full-time work
- Intern requested time off at a pro-rated hourly rate
- 7.5 hours per day x 5 days/week = 37.5 hours/week
They will be stationed at the agency listed in the attached description and will come together virtually for one hour weekly with the CMS team for professional development.
