    Please note that the Living History Apprentice program is competitive and unfortunately not all applicants will be selected.

    Those who wish to apply should complete the application below. A copy of your application will be automatically e-mailed following submission to confirm it's been received.

    After the application period closes, you will be contacted with your interview time. Selections will be made following the conclusion of the interviews and applicants will be notified of their acceptance status at that time.

  • Interviews: April 3 & 4, 2025

    Each LHA applicant will need to complete a short interview before being accepted into the program.
  • Once we have received your application and BOTH reference forms, we will e-mail you a link to sign up for your interview time. Interview times are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please be sure to ask your references to fill out their form in a timely manner!

    Each interview typically lasts 10-15 minutes. Interview times will be available on April 3 & 4 after school hours between 4:15-6:15 pm. (You'll pick an exact time when you sign up for your interview.)

  • Training: May 23 & 24, 2025

    LHA Training will take place on Friday, May 23 and Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This training is mandatory in order to prepare Living History Apprentices for the volunteer work they will be performing. Applicants accepted to the LHA program will need to pay a $75 training fee prior to the first day of training. *Please note, the Youth Luminary Volunteer Scholarship is available to LHA applicants who are in need of financial assistance.
  • Scholarship

    Financial assistance is available to LHA applicants through the Youth Luminary Volunteer Scholarship to cover the expenses of training and historic clothing. If you are planning to apply for this scholarship, please indicate that below.
  • LHA Clothing

    All selected LHAs will be provided with an LHA t-shirt to wear for modern volunteer assignments and will also need to have a historical outfit to wear. Guidelines for these outfits will be sent home with you following your interview, however you are also welcome to contact us in advance if you have questions. Your historical clothing will need to be approved and ready to wear by training. See the website for more information about the approval process.
  • LHA T-Shirt

    Each applicant chosen for the 2025 LHA class will be given a t-shirt at training. What size shirt will you wear in summer 2025? (Note - you will also have the opportunity to purchase an additional t-shirt or sweatshirt if you would like following acceptance into the program)

  • Reference Forms

    Each LHA applicant is asked to have two adults NOT RELATED TO YOU fill out a reference form and return it by the application deadline on March 15, 2025. A link to both a printable reference form and a digital reference form can be found on the LHA web page (where you found this application). Paper forms can be uploaded below with your application or mailed to Stuhr Museum LHA - 3133 W. US Hwy 34 - Grand Island, NE 68801. The digital form may be filled out by your reference and submitted online.
  • Please list the names of the two references you plan to ask. (Don't worry if you change your mind and ask someone else - this just helps us to keep all the parts of your application together!)
