Overview
SEA 1 (2024) requires Indiana educators PreK-5 Literacy to add the early literacy endorsement upon their license renewal that falls on or after July 1, 2027. To add the early literacy endorsement, educators must complete 80 hours of evidenced based professional development aligned to science of reading that meets the requirements outlined beginning on page 26 here.
Training providers/programs that are accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) may submit this form to receive confirmation of the number of hours and which requirements may be certified for educators. These providers will be able to provide certificates to participants with the assurance that they will be accepted through the educator’s early literacy endorsement application process.
Other high-quality training providers/programs may submit this form with supporting evidence of alignment to the requirements outlined beginning on page 26 here. Upon approval, these providers will be able to provide certificates to participants with the assurance that they will be accepted through the educator’s early literacy endorsement application process.
A vendor or training provider should submit a separate submission form to request verified approval for each course or training they would like to certify as partially or fully meeting the requirements outlined above to ensure each program will be accepted through the educator’s early literacy endorsement application process.
*Please note that only professional development specific to training educators on the implementation of science of reading that meets legislative requirements will be considered. In general, training overviews of adopted curriculum does not align with the legislative requirements for the early literacy endorsement professional development.
Training providers that are accredited by the International Dyslexia Association are not required to upload supporting evidence for approval.
Other training providers must upload evidence for any "yes" criteria confirmed below, including hours, for review.
