    All Contractors are responsible for ensuring they and all persons working for or contracted by them have completed a basic site induction and have read and understood the safety requirements detailed below.

    1. Sign in upon arrival before commencing work. (Note: This is a sign in system only).

    2. No work is to commence until you and your team have been authorised to do so by our Facility Manager and the person in charge of the area in which you are working.

    3. Your equipment, materials and personal protective equipment must be in good condition, be properly maintained, suitable for the job at hand and comply with the relevant legislative requirements and/or Australian Standards.

    4. Your work must be conducted in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible manner and comply with all legal/regulatory requirements. The appropriate codes of practice from www.safeworkaustralia.gov.au relating to the work must be followed where reasonable and practical to do so.

    5. You and your team must comply with any reasonable direction from the person in charge of the site. You could be asked to leave the site if any of the above requirements are not followed to reasonable expectations. Please ask the person in charge of your work if any doubt exists.

    6. You and your team must understand basic site safety requirements before commencing work (Eg: basic evacuation procedures, exit locations, evacuation assembly location) as provided here in.

    7. You and your team must know locations of site amenities: car parking, lunch areas, toilets, drinking water, before commencing work.

    8. When conducting work onsite, you and your team are responsible for controlling any hazards (as deemed appropriate).

    9. No plant or equipment is to be repaired or maintained onsite unless properly isolated/switched off and/or stopped.

    10. Any equipment or materials found to be unsafe should be tagged “out of service” and appropriate persons notified.

    11. All mains powered electrical equipment must be electrically tested and tagged.

    12. No noisy works, including hammer drilling, grinding, garden blowers, or other loud powered machinery or tools, can only take place between the hours of 6:30am and 8:30am or after 6pm.

    13. Beware of vehicle traffic operating on site. Where possible you must follow the designated pedestrian walkways (designated by yellow lines).

    14. Demarcate/isolate visitors/clients from the work you are doing with appropriate warning signage, barriers etc.

    15. Do not enter any areas which you are not authorised to enter.

    16. For any high risk work, a risk assessment/job safety anlaysis is required and permit issued before the high risk work can commence. (e.g. work at heights over 2m, working within 2m of roof edge, confined space work, working with hazardous substances). Please arrange in advance of your appointment with the person in charge to complete the permit.

    17. Ensure appropriate safety and protective equipment (e.g. hearing, foot, eye protection, hard hats, high visibility vests, etc.) is worn/used as appropriate to the area and work being carried out.

    18. If working with hazardous or dangerous chemicals, please ensure you maintain current safety data sheets onsite and use appropriate personal protective equipment.

    19. All injuries/accidents, equipment damage/breakages/failures are to be reported immediately to the person in charge of the site, by phone (03) 9854 8555 or email to property@southhavengroup.com.au. If appropriate, an accident/incident form is to be filled out and submitted.

    20. Give due consideration to the safety of other persons (including other contractors, visitors, employees) around the area you are working in and please be mindful of tenants going about their daily work and keep noise levels to a minimum. Hammer drilling or significant noisy works can only take place before or after business hours as per point 11.

    21. Maintain reasonable standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and hygiene at all times and adhere to infection control safety standards.

    22. Smoking, alcohol and illegal drugs are prohibited at the site.

    23. No form of harassment/bullying will be tolerated.

    24. You and your team have a duty to consult with other workers who may be affected by the planned work activities where work health and safety matters may arise during the course of the work.

    Remember, at South Haven Group we want you to go home to your family in the same condition as which you arrived at this site in.
