Information about the structure of International LMSA Chapters:
International chapters would be encouraged to create an international medical chapter (IMC) committee. This committee will be initally overseen by the LMSA National Operations Branch, with primary oversight from the VP of Operations and the Chief Development (CDO) team (CDO, Deputy CDO, Pre-medical Development Officer, Deputy Pre-medical Development Officer).
Once there is a minimum of 5 LMSA International Chapters, including already established chapters, International Regional Leadership will transition to an initial structure of 1 director, Chief Information OFficer, Chief Development Officer, and a Programming Chair. Individuals from these chapters may apply for these roles. These officers will be selected by the VP of Operations and approved by the BOD, similar to the National Board Selection process. This structure may be expanded at any Quarterly House of Delegates Meeting through a simple majority vote on a proposed amendment. The LMSA National VP of Operations and CDO will remain on the committee for a minimum of 1 year to facilitate a smooth transition. This time may be extended by a simple majority LMSA IMC Committee Exectutive Board vote.
For the first 5 years, the LMSA IMC Committee will have virtual Quarterly House of Delegate Meetings, in which all LMSA International Chapters will be required to attend. After this time, a proposal may be submitted to amend the frequency of HOD meetings to no fewer than Biannually.
In terms of membership, full member status will now be extended to medical schools accredited by the AOA-CODA (osteopathic), LCME (allopathic), and WFME (international) accreditations. This adjustment allows international medical schools to become full members and meet the requirement of having dues-paying national members to establish a chapter.
