I will advise Australian Student Accommodation immediately if I change any arrival or contact details, no longer require accommodation or cancel my enrolment at my place of study. I agree to abide by the Homestay rules and act maturely and responsibly at all times while living with a Homestay family. I understand that breaking Australian law, verbal or physical aggression, repeated intoxication or inappropriate behaviour towards the Homestay family will be seen as a breach of contract and I will be asked to find alternative accommodation immediately at my own expense, with no refund of monies already paid.
*Please Note: All prices are subject to change and may vary if application is placed through another organisation.
*Please Note: Any preferences are subject to availability and any requested requirements (e.g. no children; no pets - unless there is a pet allergy; no smoking; etc.) are not necessarily guaranteed.
Cancellation Policy
- If the student cancels their accommodation between two to eight weeks before their arrival, 100% of the Homestay Accommodation fee will be refunded however the Placement Fee is non-refundable.
- If the student cancels their accommodation less than two weeks before they arrive: $100 of the Homestay Accommodation fee in
addition to the Homestay Placement fee will be charged, and they will be refunded any remaining Homestay Accommodation fees
paid.
- If the student cancels their accommodation booking less than 48 hours before their arrival they will be charged one week’s
accommodation fee in addition to the Homestay Placement fee.
- If the student postpones or defers their accommodation less than three weeks before their arrival, they will be charged $100 to
cover administration costs.
- If the student postpones or defers their accommodation less than 48 hours before their arrival, they will be charged 1 weeks
homestay to recover family costs and administration costs.
- If we are unable to source a homestay family, or if the student is no longer able to travel due to e.g. visa not granted, where
adequate and acceptable notice has been provided your Homestay Placement Fee will be fully refunded.
Leaving the Homestay early
- If a student chooses to leave the Homestay family before the end of their contract period, they are required to give two weeks’
notice to the Homestay Manager and homestay family in order to receive a refund of the remaining Homestay fees held by ASA.
The Placement Fee is non-refundable.
- If the Homestay family request the student to leave the Homestay before the end of their contract period, they are required to give
two weeks’ notice to the Homestay Manager and the student. The student will be moved to another homestay family and will not
be charged another placement fee (subject to the student adhering to the student rules and guidelines listed in the ‘information
for students’).
In situations where the student has indicated that they cannot continue to live with the family due to health risks (allergies) or
due to other reasons where the student had failed to let us know on the placement form, they will be moved as soon as possible
and an additional placement fee may apply in this instance.
- If the family has breached any rules for hosting students in accordance with ASA policies, the student will be moved as soon as
possible.
- If a student is not happy with their Homestay family they can contact the Homestay coordinator – or the Homestay family will
contact the Homestay coordinator. It is suggested that the student and family try to see if they can get along for a few days by
following suggestions. If they do, and the situation seems resolved, the coordinator will monitor the situation and contact the
student and the family to make sure that things are progressing smoothly after 2-3 days. If matters cannot be resolved, the student
is moved to another Homestay at no further cost to the student, agent or school. If a student request for a change of homestay
without valid reason, another Placement Fee will apply.
ASA deems that after two unsuccessful Homestay placements the student may not be suited to Homestay and another type of
accommodation should be found at the student’s expense. The Homestay Coordinator will assist with this, where possible.
- If a student is under 18, they must again be assisted to find a suitable Homestay family so that they have the supervision of an
adult. However, if an under 18 student repeatedly breaks the Homestay rules; the school, agent and/or student’s parents will be
contacted and appropriate action taken.
- If a student breaks the law, is repeatedly intoxicated, becomes violent or aggressive, acts inappropriately towards their Homestay
family, is found to be disrespectful and/or is repeatedly breaking their house rules, they will be asked to leave the Homestay family
immediately and find alternative accommodation at their own cost. In this situation, no refund of monies already paid by the
student will be given due to breach of contract.
