This camp will be conducted for 10 weeks from June 3, 2024 through August 7, 2024. The camps hours are from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Included in this packet you will find a program schedule of all daily camp activities. A parent or guardian must sign each child in and out daily and parents must call in and inform staff if the child is not attending for that day. 120 scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis.
Registration- The registration fee is $50.00 per child. Your child will receive a camp T-shirt in your child's size. This summer camp T-shirt must be worn on Thursday for all field trips. If t-shirt is lost it can be replaced for a $10.00 fee.
Scholarship Eligibility- Boys and Girls ages 5-14 that live in the Pinellas County area are eligible for summer scholarship on a first come first serve basic. At present, there are 100 scholarships available (40) for 5-8 year old's (Little Leaders) and (80) for 9-14 year old's (BT2U, Teen Titans and Young Gents If your child is selected for a scholarship, you or a representative must attend the MANDATORY Parent Orientation meeting, Thursday, May 16, 2024 6pm-7pm. Failure to attend will result in having your child removed from the scholarship list as per request from the funders. In addition, if your child is 5-8 years old and has received the United Way Summer Bridges Reading Scholarship, you must attend (1) workshops at the date to be determined before summer camp begins.We will keep you informed. Our summer camp program uses artistic activities as a way to diminish learning loss during the summer hiatus. Based on Promoting the Multiple Intelligence Theory, the activities scheduled revisit, STEAM concept which includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math activities and programming. The Concepts are achieved though Reading and Writing through Dance, Theater, Drumming, Music and Cultural Activities. Attendance will be tracked daily through the JWB GEMS System. More then 8 absences will jeopardize your child's scholarship.
Meals- The camp will provide lunch and snack daily at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If you send a special meal for your child, do not send any thing that must be heated or cooked in any way. Enclosed you will find menus for the scheduled meals. If your child has any food allergies such as peanuts or lactose products, please notify Ms. Ebony and provide verification from your physician and the food sponsors will modify the meal for your child.
Dress- The youth will participate in some sort of dance or physical activity daily. Please provide comfortable clothing for stretching and energetic activities. Youth should wear sneakers or fastened sandals and refrain form wearing flip-flops or high heals. Comfortable shorts must be worn under shirts or dresses during camp activities.
Swimming- Swimming will take place at the Greenwood Aquatic Center Pool on Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00PM. Your child should wear bathing suit under clothes and bring towel, goggles, arm floats, hair caps and sun block. All items should be labeled with child's name for identification and should be in a bag with child's name. Rules for swimming are enclosed in packet.
Electronic - We are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged personal items. Please do not allow your child to bring these items to camp. Exceptions are times when we will feature Electronic Day, you will be notified in advance and we will collect items for that day.
Health- Each child must have health profile that will include allergies, medical or special needs, emergency phone numbers and the name of your physician.
Every child is expected to abide by all rules, regulations, codes of conduct and must participate in all activities unless physically unable. Our end of camp presentation will be held in the Academy parking lot on Wednesday July 24, 2024 from 6:00-7:30pm. All youth are expected to participate, and must be picked up after the performance.
