1. Policy
In using Athenian Academy's network and Chromebooks, the student is subject to and must comply with Athenian Academy's Parent and Student Handbook Policies addressing student discipline, harassment/bullying, and acceptable use of electronic network/technology and their associated administrative procedures and regulations. A violation of any of these policies could result in loss of network privileges, loss of right to utilize the device, and/or appropriate discipline, up to and including suspension and expulsion.
2. Students may not
- Disrupt the educational process of the school through non-educational use of the device;
- Endanger the health or safety of themselves or anyone else through the use of the device;
- Invade the rights and privacy of others at school through the use of the device;
- Engage in illegal or prohibited conduct of any kind through the use of the device; or
- Violate the conditions and rules of acceptable use of the device
3. No Unauthorized Software or Data
Only legally licensed software, apps, media, or other data is permitted on the device. Students will not download software, apps, media or other data (including songs, photos, or videos) without prior approval from a teacher.
4. No Right to Privacy
The devices are Athenian Academy property; therefore, the school personnel may examine the devices and search their contents at any time for any reason. Neither students nor parents/guardians have any right to privacy of any data saved on the device or in a cloud-based account to which the device connects. The school administration may involve law enforcement, if it is possible the device may have been used for an illegal purpose.
5. Damage to a Chromebook
Parent(s)/guardian(s) are responsible for their child's use of the device, including any damage to the Chromebook.
- Device Damage: In the event of damage to the Chromebook, the family is responsible for covering costs of replacing the damaged device. An obligation letter will be sent home detailing the extent of the damage and how much is owed.
- Obligations: While a student has an obligation with the school, the child will be unable to participate in school functions outside of the normal classroom environment, before and after care services, before and after school clubs, field trips, etc.
I acknowledge that I have read through and agree to adhere to Athenian Academy's Technology Agreement. I understand that if my child doesn't adhere to school's policies, he/she may be disciplined via Detention, Suspension, or Expulsion. In addition, I understand that if my child damages his/her Chromebook, our family is responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing the device.
