Please be as complete and thorough as possible. Expand on answers to give us an overall sense of the people, animals, and home. If you have additional questions or concerns, list them at the end under "Other Information to Consider."

Who is present for the home visit (including pets)? List names and relationship.*

If there are children in the household, what are their ages?*

Are the children well behaved? Are they loud, scared, hyper, extra social, bookworm, not interested...?*

Does everyone appear to be happy about the prospective adoption?*

Is anyone reluctant? If so, dig for a reason why.*

List other dogs, cats, farm animals, and pets of any kind. Do they appear to be well cared for? Note their temperament and interaction with family.*

How are the children with the existing pets?*

Does the family have previous "Big Dog" experience? What were those experiences?*

Who is the primary dog person? (There is alway one primary.)*

Where does the family spend most of their time while in the house?*

In the house, will the dog have free roam? Will the dog be restricted to certain rooms? (Discuss why there are times they would want to restrict the dog to certain areas.)*

Is the house a showcase or "lived in"?*

Is there a yard? If so, briefly describe it.*

Is the yard fenced? If so, list the type of fence and the height. Walk the fence to see if it needs repairs or modifications to be safe for a dog. Check the latches of the gate(s) to make sure they are all secure.*

Is there a pool? Can the dog easily gain access to the pool or is it fenced and secure?*

Does the property have any water access (pond, canal, lake, ocean...)? Is there fencing to protect the dog from accessing them without permission?*

Does the property have acreage? If so, walk the property with the owner and discuss how they will keep the dog from wandering out-of-site.*

What is the neighborhood like and does it appear to be safe?*

Is the neighborhood pet friendly?*

Do they live on a busy road?*

What's their training plan/methods?*

Do they understand the drool and hair situation with Newfoundlands?*

Is there anything else you want us to consider?*

Would you feel comfortable leaving your own dog in the care of these people if something were to happen to you?*
