DHS Case Worker Referral: Program Information

The Nurturing Parenting curriculum is an evidence-based program designed to enhance parenting skills and prevent child abuse and neglect through family-centered, trauma-informed practices. It is designed to support families who have children from birth to 18 years old. The Nurturing Skills for Families curriculum features psychoeducation regarding child development, engages parents in activities to foster nurturing parenting skills with nurturing behaviors, promotes healthy physical and emotional development, and offers parents information about appropriate role and developmental expectations. Sunbeam offers Nurturing Skills for Families as a 24-session course over approximately twelve weeks.

The Parent Child Observation (PCO) is a requirement for Sunbeam’s Parent Education Program. This service's purpose is for the parent(s) to practice nurturing skills learned from class in a safe and supportive setting observed by Sunbeam’s Parent Education team. We understand the PCO may not be feasible due to some circumstances.

If your client WILL NOT be able to complete the PCO requirement, please request a waiver here
