    Kendall Square Market CSA Application

  • Modeled after the Community Supported Agriculture system, the Kendall Square Farmers Market and BioMed Realty are partnering to provide SNAP recipients in our community with an easy and affordable way to shop the market. Each week, the market box will be filled with produce from Crimson and Clover Farm, a protein of your choice, and extra goodies from vendors at the market. This market box sources produce from Crimson and Clover, meat from Stillman’s Quality Meat, fish from Cape Ann Fresh Catch, and mushrooms from My County Mushrooms. Other items will include, on a rotating basis, such things as honey, bread, coffee, chocolate, and more. The products you will receive are local and thus seasonal. This box is a great way to support our farmers and food vendors and to get the most for your money.

When you sign up for the Kendall Square Market Box, you will provide your EBT card number. On the day that your benefits renew each month, $80/ $120/ $160 will be automatically deducted from your account, $40/ $60/ $80 of which will be from your HIP balance. In return you will receive a weekly market box that you will pick up every Thursday between 12-6 at the Kendall Square Farmers Market. This program will run 24 weeks, beginning May 23 and ending October 31, 2024.

Certain weeks have additional benefits: once at the beginning, middle and end of the season there will be a special box with a little bit of everything!

  • Agreement

  • I understand that:

    - A total of $80 / $120 / $160 will be deducted from my EBT balance per month – of which $40 / $60 / $80 will be from my Healthy Incentives Program balance – starting in June and ending in October.

    - If I do not have enough in my SNAP balance, the share amount will decrease to match the amount I am able to pay.

    - I will receive a share every week from June through October and I must pick it up from the Kendall Square Farmers Market located at 1 Broad Canal Way in Cambridge on Thursdays between 12-6.

    - It is my responsibility to pick up my share on my scheduled pick-up date.

    - If I cannot pick up my share, it is my responsibility to find someone to pick it up for me.

    - If nobody shows up to pick up the share, it will be donated to a local food pantry. I understand that I will not get a refund.

    - The products in my share will vary week to week based on what is seasonal and what is listed for that week’s specials. There is no guarantee on the exact amount of produce and it will vary by weight, size and type of produce, protein and market extras.

    - I will receive produce, the protein I selected above, and a rotating array of other foods. The schedule for foods from other vendors, made in advance by Mass Farmers Markets, is subject to change at any time.

    - I understand I cannot return my CSA share or exchange it for different produce or other types of product.

    - I can cancel at any time. I understand I will not be reimbursed for shares that have already been deducted.

    - I understand that if I no longer want to participate:

    • I will ask Mass Farmers Markets or email DTA at DTA.CSA@mass.gov for a cancellation form.
    • I will complete and return the form to Mass Farmers Markets at least 10 days before I receive my next monthly SNAP benefit.
    • If I do not return the completed form at least 10 days before that date, my CSA share payment may automatically be deducted from my next SNAP benefit. In that case, the cancellation will take effect the following month.
    • I understand that Mass Farmers Markets and DTA will act on my request to cancel my payment as soon as possible.

    - I agree to participate in a brief survey about this SNAP CSA Pilot at the beginning and end of the CSA season.

    - My copy of this form and the notices I receive when money is deducted from my SNAP balance serve as my receipt of payment.
