  • Best time to travel (Rocky Mountaineer Rail Travel)

April to May: Best time to travel. Prices around this time are cheaper and you will also get to see the wildlife come out. Its cooler weather so there are still snow-capped mountains and lakes may still be frozen. The water levels are higher meaning rushing rivers and waterfalls. Later in the Spring season, wildflowers start to blossom as well.

Summer to early September: This time of year has the longest and warmest days, so more daylight hours in each destination. It is a good time to spot baby animals and the rainforests are lush and full, while desert canyons are especially rugged.

Autumn: From late September to October get cooler temperatures and leaves starting to change color. It’s the start of the first snowfall meaning the return of snow-capped mountains. And the spawning salmon attract the attention of hungry bears and eagles, making for excellent wildlife-watching opportunities.
