Hosts are responsible for the initial, warm greeting and seating of guests, responding to reservation changes, taking reservations and messages, maintaining accurate guest counts and wait times and saying goodbye to all guests.

Dishwashers are responsible for washing and sanitizing all food service utensils and miscellaneous items such as plates, silverware, glassware, pots, pans, etc. Also responsible for assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the back of house area. May have additional cleaning duties specific to the restaurant.

• Operate and utilize the dish machine and cleaning supplies
• Wash, sanitize and dry all kitchen utensils, equipment and other items placed in the dish area or as requested by Management and Staff
• Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends

Bussers are responsible for assisting the service team in exceeding the guest’s expectations.  Assists with Barista duties as directed. Teamwork, organization and good awareness are necessary for success in this position.

Barbacks are responsible for stocking the bar, coolers and storage areas with appropriate items as well as maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards of these areas.  Assists the Bartender with side work, glass washing, bussing and restocking.  Also assists with Busser, Food Runner and Barista duties as directed.

Runners are responsible for continual set-up and prompt delivery of food to guests when the order is completed by the kitchen. Also responsible for ensuring that the highest quality of food presentation is being maintained.

General Manager - Pizzeria Sussurri

Salary: $6,000 - $8,000 per month

Schedule: Full time 50 hours per week

General Managers are responsible for the overall operation of the location as well as the development of his/her hourly staff. Work with ownership and the management team in setting the direction of the business in day to day operations as well as a plan to grow the business, drive sales and manage costs. Responsible for the financial aspects of the restaurant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage a staff of 10-12 for the summer season
• Be accountable for all facets of the store operation.
• Train, coach and develop management team in areas including:   systems, policies and procedures, personal growth, operational and financial knowledge, interpersonal skills and organizational techniques.
• Interview, hire, train, develop and retain qualified management and hourly Team Members.
• Interact with, direct and supervise Team Members on a daily basis in a fair and dignified manner.
• Assure compliance with and uphold applicable policies and requirements of all employment laws and practices.
• Authorize comps and voids for all Team Members.
• Promote and cultivate a positive, “can do” environment.
• Oversee and be responsible for all financial aspects of the store.
• Responsible for the security of, balancing and paring of all cash banks.
• Oversee completion of daily food orders: dry goods, dairy, pizza ingredients, beverages, etc., and/or identify and communicate inventory and equipment needs to ordering manager.
• Ensure adequate pizza prep levels based on business levels, minimize waste, and control food cost.
• Maintain food quality standards including consistency and presentation.
• Ensure proper food storage according to standard operating procedure and comprehend and adhere to sanitation guidelines as prescribed by standard state, city and county codes.
• Perform a shift “walk through” in order to assess staffing, maintenance, cleanliness, zoning and any special needs.
• Complete opening checklist, assign sanitation projects to Team Members and follow up with Team Members to ensure their completion.
• Complete certification on POS handheld device in & out.
• Assign Team Member to roles
• Perform and extend all inventories
• Submit payroll and tipout for team members
• Create appropriate atmosphere including lighting, music and temperature levels.
• Assure compliance and uphold applicable Whispers policies and state and federal employment laws.
• Write agenda for and conduct periodic management meetings as well as periodic informational seminars for Team Members.
• Address all guest complaints and problems effectively and courteously on an as needed basis.
• Use tact and good judgement when dealing with difficult guests. Respond to their needs with patience and courtesy.
• Responsible for the purchase and maintenance of all restaurant equipment
  Communicate repair and maintenance needs to ownership.
• Identify, address and document individual Team Member performance problems according to standard operating procedure. Discipline and/or terminate as necessary according to standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety.
• Review food item sales data and make appropriate adjustments.
• Oversee the creation of work schedules for Managers, Shift Supervisors, and Team Members.
• Forecast business levels and ensure smooth shift operation.
• Research current industry trends and effect changes accordingly.
• Cultivate personal growth and entrepreneurial skills based on reviews and feedback from management/ownership.
• Establish a rapport with guests to promote goodwill and solicit opinions and ideas.
• Maintain a well manicured appearance and persona that reflects the established image of the store; comply with dress code.
• Be an active team player.
• Ensure that all food items are correctly recorded on computer register system.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area throughout shift and leave it ready for business for the following shift
• Meet personal schedule requirements punctually.
• Project a courteous, confident and flexible attitude.
• Safely transport items throughout all areas of the store on a slick and uneven surface and stairs where applicable.
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently life and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Executive Chef - Pizzeria Sussurri

Salary: $1,500 - $2,000 per week (this is a seasonal position)

Pizzeria Sussurri, situated at Chicago's scenic Museum Campus, is seeking a seasoned Executive Chef to helm our kitchen for the 2024 season. This role demands a leader who combines culinary expertise with operational acumen, poised to shape an innovative pizza dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Staff Management: Assume full responsibility for hiring, training, scheduling, and monitoring kitchen staff to ensure a cohesive team dynamic and high performance.
• Operational Oversight: Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including placing orders for food and supplies, ensuring the kitchen is well-equipped and operations run smoothly.
• Menu Development and Cost Management: Lead the creation and ongoing adaptation of menus, including costing to meet financial objectives while maintaining culinary creativity.
• Quality and Compliance: Oversee the entire kitchen operation, ensuring compliance with food safety laws and regulations. Foster an environment of excellence in food preparation and presentation.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 6 years in culinary leadership, preferably in a high-volume or specialty kitchen.
• Education: Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications, Square POS, and Gmail.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering exceptional guest service.

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of standing and moving throughout the kitchen for extended periods.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and manage kitchen equipment safely.
