To work in the front in the morning during intake, you need a keen eye for detail because we often have multiple different people dropping off several different cats all at once. It's easy to lose track of which cats belong to which person (we have a system for this) and it can be overwhelming at times.
There are often various different conversations happening at once, with lots of activity going on. You will need to be able to focus on the task at hand and at the same time, be kind and patient with people while they talk to you.
Additionally, there is a lot of lifting and bending, and you are on your feet most of the day. There are often traps that need to be hosed out because they've been soiled, and sometimes we have to clean runny poop off of the floors and tables.
We also do all the laundry and cleanup at the end of the day (sweeping, mopping, taking out the garbage, sanitizing, etc.)
We deal with a lot in the front, so we need someone who can think quickly, remain calm, and be able to clean really disgusting things!
