  • Summary

Climate Defiance is seeking an Organizing Director to oversee our expanding team of activists. This pivotal role entails managing, recruiting, and retaining our cohort of paid staff, volunteers, and campus fellows. Additionally, you will lead and coordinate direct actions that publicly challenge corporate executives and elected officials regarding their climate stance.

    Context:

We are rising up to stop the Musk-Trump rampage.

We are hiring a skilled organizing director to bring this fight to the next level.

We do not go along to get along. We do not sit in K Street cubicles circulating coalition letters. We do not climb the Beltway ladder, pining for a job someday at Brookings.

We take action. We get results. We make life miserable for people in power. And we do not apolozige.

We played a prominent role in halting drilling on tens of millions of acres. We helped win a pause on fracked gas exports. We've made executives in the highest levels of business and government resign in shame from their positions of power.

We are gearing up to stop the fossil-fueled oligarchy overtakign our government. We are looking for the ideal candidate to help us do it.

    About You:

You are a collaborative and empathetic leader, deeply invested in team building. Your adeptness in team development is bolstered by your robust communication and organizational proficiencies. Committed to social change, you champion racial, economic, and environmental justice. As a self-starter, you excel in executing, implementing, and troubleshooting without excessive oversight. Your convictions align with the principles of nonviolent confrontation, direct action, and disruption.

    Qualifications:

    • Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional engagement.
    • Team Management: At least 3 years of experience supervising teams comprising a minimum of 5 direct reports.
    • Hiring Proficiency: Demonstrated track record of extensive hiring experience.
    • Managerial Oversight: Proven capacity in managing managers.

    • Leadership Development: History of promoting individuals into leadership roles.
    • Direct Action Involvement: Active participation in and leadership of direct actions.
    • Willingness to Travel: Flexibility and readiness to engage in extensive travel for actions and site visits.

    Location:

Flexible, though a major population center is ideal.
