The nonprofit Quilt Alliance is thrilled to be part of Smoky Mountain Quilters of TN Quilt Show. Our goal is to record and document the stories of show attendees (SMQ membership or having a quilt in the show is not required). We aim to record as many quilt stories as we can at the show to preserve and share these important histories.
We invite all show attendees to sign up for a 10-minute time slot to record a short "Go Tell It!" video in our booth, located at the front of the hall lright behind the boutique area, or on the show floor (if you will have a quilt on exhibit). The Go Tell It! format is very similar to a guild show and tell session--one person talks about one quilt for three minutes or less. For an idea of what these videos are like, watch videos in this Go Tell It! YouTube playlist.
Quilts you bring to share and talk about for the video can be one you've made, or one you own. If the quilt is on exhibit, we will schedule you during one of the times we have reserved for on-the-floor recordings. If the quilt you want to talk about is not on exhibit you will bring it to the QA booth and we will hang it behind you on a quilt stand. As the Teller, you will stand beside the quilt and say whatever you like--it's totally up to you--whatever you would like to say about it for three minutes or less. All quilts shared will be featured and shared in the Go Tell It! video collection on the Quilt Alliance YouTube Channel.
If you are interested in sharing your story during the show, please fill out the form below. We will distribute a confirmed recording schedule via email by June 7, 2024.
If you have questions or if you would like to volunteer to help out in the QA booth at the show email Amy.Milne@QuiltAlliance.org.
