Purpose: To maintain an environment conducive to learning, all student athletes are required to adhere to the following cell phone policy during academy school hours.
Policy Statement: Students are prohibited from using or having their cell phones out during school hours from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This includes, but is not limited to, making calls, texting, accessing social media, or any other activity involving the cell phone.
Policy Details:
Prohibited Use: Cell phones must be turned off/silent and kept in lockers during the school day, including during class time, lunch periods, and any other school-related activities.
Consequences of Non-Compliance:
Personal Project: Students who fail to comply with this policy will be assigned a semester-long personal project. This project will focus on themes of integrity and self-discipline, requiring students to reflect on their behavior and demonstrate their understanding of these values.
Team Point Deduction: A deduction of 100 points will be made from the student's team’s overall score for each incident of non-compliance.
Parental Involvement: Immediate notification will be made to the student's parent or guardian to discuss the incident and the assigned consequences.
Agreement: By signing below, you acknowledge that you have read and understood the cell phone policy, and agree to abide by the rules set forth. You also understand the consequences of failing to comply with this policy.
