Why this rule?
The background of this rule is the same as faceit's own elo penalty. When you queue with members of much lower elo, you will win/lose less elo. Same goes with our leaderboard rank, when you queue with lower elo players, you will then also win/lose less points.
What is elo abuse?
Elo abusing doesn't require specific ranks. Elo abusing appear, when we see a pattern of playing with smurfs or low level accounts, to gain an unfair advantage. It's a bit abstract and is an overall assessment.
Factors of this, is both the frequency, the extreme and players queueing with.
Of course, if it has only happened once and with a differency of 1 elo too much, we chose the dialog instead of actions.
Elo abuse only applies on the player who is +1000 elo above, not every member of the party.
OBS! Deliberately queueing with a smurf, who is later on convicted smurf, will also result in a points penalty.
How to avoid elo abuse?
If you want to be safe of elo abuse, don't queue with players, who are 1000 or more elo below yourself.
For example, if you're 1700 elo, you should only queue with players as low as 700 elo.
Exception of high elo players
As of 1st Sep 2024, level 10 users can play with level 8 users, even if the difference exceeds 1000 elo difference.
This means even though you are for example 3000 elo, you are allowed to queue with level 8.
All other levels (1-9) are still limited to a maximum of 1000 elo difference, but now every level 10 can queue with players who are level 8 or higher.
Level 10's can still queue with lower ranks than level 8, if the elo difference does not exceed 1000.
How much is the penalty?
The points penalty of elo abusing is calculated from the amount of cases up until that time, when action is taken. The more cases of elo abuse, the higher is the points penalty.

We chose to enforce this rule, probably more than other clubs, because we want to create an honest and safe space for our members. Also because of the significance our prize pool, we've also found it necessary to continuously investigate top 10 of leaderboard, which gives cash prizes.
