    Bicycle Safety & Training

  • IMPORTANT NOTICE:

It is required to have a valid Parking Sticker/Permit to park your bicycle or motor vehicle at the Bike Cage or anywhere on campus.

Click the image below to begin the Bicycle Safety & Training. Once you’ve finished, return to this site and click “Continue” to complete and submit your information to obtain your free permit. A confirmation email will be sent to you shortly after submission.

Please be advised that completing the Bicycle Safety Program is a mandatory requirement for obtaining a campus parking permit. This program ensures you are knowledgeable about safe cycling practices and campus regulations. Failure to complete the Bicycle Safety Training will result in the denial of your parking permit, and you will not be permitted to park on campus. We encourage all students to complete this requirement promptly to avoid any inconvenience. For more information on how to complete the program, please visit the campus safety office.

Important Notice: Only street-legal bicycles and motorized bikes are permitted on campus. All bikes must comply with California vehicle regulations, including working brakes, lights, and reflectors. Bikes that are not street-legal or do not meet safety requirements will not be allowed on campus property or in bike cages.

  • To ensure safety when bringing your bicycle onto campus, please adhere to the following guidelines:

    Students are required to:
    • Wear a bicycle helmet at all times.
    • Keep their bicycle, scooter, or e-bike in proper working condition—regularly check and maintain tires, brakes, chains, and other components.
    • Have a functioning locking device that is under the student's control.
    • Lock their bicycle securely whenever on campus, at all times.
    • Use designated and approved bicycle parking areas.

Remember, most bicycle thefts occur due to opportunity. Bikes that are unlocked or poorly secured are the easiest targets.

Always lock your bike whenever you leave it:

    • Avoid cable locks, as they can be quickly cut; invest in a high-quality U-lock and learn how to use it properly.
    • Lock through the frame and wheel if possible; if not, at least secure the frame.
    • Attach your lock to a solid, secure bike rack—not a fence, which can be easily cut.
    • Lock your bike even if it is stored in a locked bike cage during the day, and never leave it overnight.
