    The Poetry Foundation displays information about poets on our website in a variety of ways, including:

    • The Poets section of our website ("bio pages")
    • The descriptions for our events, performances, workshops, podcasts and videos
    • Notes about contributors who have work accepted for publication in Poetry magazine or on our website

    This form is intended to collect the information you would like represented about yourself on the Poetry Foundation website. To help us maintain an equitable and consistent process, please do not submit more than once per year.

    If you select that you do not want a bio page, we will use your information for your upcoming event or program only.

    This form takes about 10-15 minutes to complete.

  • Enter your name as you would like it to appear on the Poetry Foundation website. You will have the option to add alternate names at the end of this form.

    If you have a compound last name, please enter it in the last name field.

  • Pronouns will be provided in parentheses after your name in your bio. If you select multiple options, we will alternate among them all in your bio.

  • Planning and Promotion

    For events, performances, workshops and programs hosted by the Poetry Foundation in person and online.

  • Your Author Photo

    Please provide a high-quality photo of yourself to use with your information. By submitting your photo, you indicate that you have permission to use it for publication on the Poetry Foundation's website.

    We will use the information below to fill out categories and keywords that help website users find your bio page. Please indicate all categories that you would like publicly associated with your bio page. Self-representation is an important value in the Poetry Foundation's author biographies; Poetry Foundation staff will not apply any categories to your bio page that you do not indicate.

  • Geography Categories

    The geographic locations below are the current categories for author geography in our website. Please select up to five geographies that represent your location or heritage to be publicly displayed on your bio page. Use the "other" option for additional specificity.

  • Biography Page

    We will use this information to publish or update your public-facing author biography page. Your author biography should be written in the third person using objective and verifiable information to maintain archive standards. You may also add additional biographical information including personal or subjective notes. We are not able to include information about self-publications or forthcoming publications.
    • All biographies will be copyedited, fact-checked, and revised to meet style requirements.
    • Someone from the Poetry Foundation may reach out to confirm and fact-check unclear information to maintain editorial standards.
    • Please submit no more than once per year, inclusive of revisions. We have a small team, so multiple submissions will be archived unread.
    • Your submission will be addressed in the order it was received.
    • It may take several months for the editorial team to review your submission before publishing or updating your biography.
    • Please do not inquire about the status of your biography, as we receive a high volume of submissions.
    • Biography submission does not guarantee inclusion on the website.
