    UNITED THROUGH WATERCOLOUR 2025 - Etobicoke Civic Centre - Toronto Ontario Canada. IWS Canada - UNITED THROUGH WATERCOLOUR -  SHOW RULESDATES1pm to 5pm Sunday September 28th 2025. (Hanging day 1pm to 5pm September 21st 2025.) Saturday, September 27th - Tours and plein air painting in the vicinity (Centennial Park and Colonel Samuel Smith Park) SUBMISSIONS- HANGING FEE - For works physically dropped off by you to the ECC on September 21 between 1 and 5pm.Work must be picked up again at the end of the show on October 24th, again between 1 and 5pm. (up to 2 artworks allowed for drop-off, an extra $25 for a 3rd painting) = $50 ($75 for 3)- This exhibition is for IWS Canada members, should you wish to join IWS Canada to take part in this show we are offering a promotion that for $80 you may display your work and also get one year of IWS Canada Membership.Email iwscanada@gmail.com for details. - To accommodate our many members who live in other countries or provinces, If your work is unframed, and need matting and framing, and/or you are sending by mail, please email us to make arrangements.  iwscanada@gmail.com Typically this extra service will be around $100 in total.  This does not include return mail of framed work. - All mailing costs must be covered by the artist. - We must receive all mailed artwork by August 1st. (If shipping, Email iwscanada@gmail.com to arrange delivery and handling) - Should you wish to have your painting in the printed booklet, but not in the show, that is also acceptable. Please indicate on the form that you will not be mailing a physical painting.  - Winners for awards will be pre-assessed by our Judges Luan Quach and Ian Wright, and given at the opening September 28th 1 to 5pm. The members choice award will be voted on at the show by using a ballot box in which you can choose your favourite painting. Only IWS Canada members may submit paintings for this Show. (For those wishing to participate and who are not yet members, we have a special offer to receive a year’s membership for an extra $30 on top of the $50 hanging fee). (Please contact us for pricing details iwscanada@gmail.com) Paintings submitted for a Show must be accompanied by the registration information and the entry fee.MATERIALSPaints are limited to any water-based, water-soluble medium: watercolours, gouache,egg tempera, or water-based inks. Acrylic paint is acceptable, except on canvas. AI prints are not allowed, and use of AI in any form is discouraged. Substrates are limited to paper based, Yupo, TerraSkin, clayboard, Aquaboard.Watercolour paper, TerraSkin and Yupo may be adhered to a rigid archival backing suchas stretched canvas, canvas board or panel.A painting may contain up to 10% of extraneous material other than water-based paintsand substrates.FRAMING AND MATTINGWorks on Canvas:• Canvas wrapped stretcher frames are acceptable. If the edges of the canvas are showing, they must be finished.7. Sizing:Two-dimensional works that are 16" x 20" or smaller may, at gallery staff discretion, either be double hung or placed in one of the display cases.9. Wiring:The gallery has the right to reject faulty or poorly wired frames. A sufficient gauge of wire and screw eyes for the weight of the artwork must be properly mounted. Single strand wire or wire substitutes will not stand up to the necessary handling. Artists are responsible for any damage caused by faulty hanging equipment.Textile works can be hung as long as there is a sleeve at the top of the artwork that a rod can be placed through.If the work is deemed fragile, the artist will need to sign a waiver upon check in.The ends of the wire must be covered with masking tape or equivalent, to ensure there is no potential for injury during the frame check, carrying and hanging process.Each artwork must have d-rings or screw eyes on both sides at the back of the frame/canvas, with the wire (in its hung position) is at least 3" below the top of the frame (so that the clamp will not show). If the piece is larger, please aim to have the wire sit 1/3 from the top.All painting surfaces must be protected with either glass, Plexiglas, archival approved fixatives, waxing or varnishes.Paintings delivered for hanging must be clearly identified on the back with the artist’sname, painting title and price.ORIGINALITYPaintings must be the sole original work of the member artist. A member artist may notsubmit the work of another artist, either under her/his own name or any other name.Paintings produced at a workshop or in a class under an instructor may not be submitted.Copying of another artist’s original work, of a reproduction of another artist’s work, or ofa published professional photo is not permitted.AI printouts will not be accepted. The use of AI in general is discouraged. SALE OF PAINTINGSSale of artworks. For the sale of a painting, it will be forwarded to the artist to negotiate the transaction. IWS Canada will take no sales fee, and takes no responsibility in the processing of the sale of the artwork.Paintings must remain on the wall for the full duration of the show.For any questions on any of these above points, please email iwscanada@gmail.com
