    As an Entry-Level Technician at Checker Bus, you will assist in maintaining our fleet and play a supportive role in larger repair projects, ensuring the safety and comfort of our passengers. Your responsibilities will include performing basic maintenance, assisting in the diagnosis and repair of mechanical issues, keeping the shop clean and organized, and learning to uphold our stringent safety and performance standards under the guidance of experienced technicians.   • Position: Entry Level Technician

    Location: Marquette, MI

    Company: Checker Bus LLC

    Employment Type: Full-Time/ Part-Time

    Schedule: 8-hour shift, Day shift, Monday to Friday

    Compensation:

    Starting rate: Negotiable based on skills and experience.

    Job Description:

    • Perform Basic Maintenance and Repairs on motorcoaches and passenger vehicles under the guidance of experienced technicians.
    • Assist in Diagnosing and Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues with the opportunity to learn and develop troubleshooting skills.
    • Conduct Regular Service and Safety Inspections to ensure the safety and reliability of our fleet.
    • Learn to Repair or Replace Defective Parts, Components, or Systems, gaining hands-on experience in diesel technology.
    • Maintain Detailed Records of services and repairs performed, contributing to the overall maintenance history.
    • Ensure Compliance with industry standards and regulations through diligent work and attention to detail.
    • Support the Operations Team in managing maintenance schedules and provide input based on direct experience with the vehicles.
    • Offer Basic Technical Support to the driving team, building a foundation for technical expertise in diesel mechanics.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Interest in Diesel Mechanics; no prior experience required as comprehensive training will be provided.
    • High School Diploma or Equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics is beneficial but not mandatory.
    • Valid Driver’s License; CDL not required to start but encouraged as a future goal.
    • Willingness to learn about diesel engines and motorcoach systems.
    • Basic familiarity with Tools and Equipment used in diesel mechanics, with opportunities to learn advanced skills.
    • Team player with the ability to also work independently.
    • Physical stamina to handle tasks involving heavy equipment and parts, with safety training included.
    • Good Problem-Solving Skills and effective communication abilities.

     

    Requirements:

    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
    • Demonstrated reliability, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic.
    • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
    • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.
    • Must have reliable transportation and be punctual for shifts.
    • Must Supply Own Tools: Candidates are required to have their basic set of tools to start. It is expected that candidates will expand their toolkit as they gain experience and grow in their role
