STARS Celebration 2024

Collecting demographic data helps us to understand who our conference brings to the table so that we can prepare content that reflects our community -- it also helps us to provide required reporting information to funding agencies that support STARS programs and events.  

Your answers to the open-ended questions below will help us to understand how we can best support you in your efforts to broaden participation in computing. 

STARS Celebration Travel Stipend Application

STARS is offering travel support to the first 50 students and faculty who register to attend Celebration, in the amount of $900 to support flight, ground transport, and 1-2 nights of lodging. We understand that this amount may not cover flights, ground transportation, as well as 2 nights of hotel at single occupancy. We encourage you to find a roommate to split the lodging, or find a hotel near the venue that fits your budget.

We encourage you to reserve your flights and hotel ASAP to help you stay within your budget.

Selected applicants who applied by August 30 will be notified within 2 weeks of application, starting on August 1 and with the latest notifications on August 31.

To be eligible for your stipend, you must upload a PDF that shows a receipt and flight itinerary for a flight arriving before 8am Sep 21 and leaving after 7 pm on Saturday, Sep. 21. If you have not booked a flight yet, you may complete this registration (by searching your email for your form submission from noreply@jotform.com) and return to the form to upload your flight after we notify you that you are eligible for a travel stipend.

Tapia Celebration Travel Stipend + Registration Code

You may apply for support to participate in the Tapia Celebration of Diversity in Computing (Sept. 18-20, 2024) in addition to the STARS Celebration (Sept. 21, 2024). 

Support is in the form of an additional $300 lodging stipend and a complimentary Tapia registration code.

Applications will be reviewed every two weeks. Selected applicants will be notified on June 15, June 30, July 15, July 30, August 15, and August 30. Once you receive notification that you have been approved to receive Tapia support, return to this form and upload your flight itinerary and receipt (in one PDF) to finalize your application.
