Art House Productions is a performing and visual arts center established in 2001 and located in Jersey City, NJ. Art House serves as a home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas. The organization engages, inspires, entertains, and challenges audiences with ambitious performing and visual arts programs. Additionally, Art House provides arts education programs that promote lifelong learning to a diverse community, celebrating the essential power of the arts to illuminate our common humanity.

Box Office $18/hr or $50 shift minimum - most shifts are less than 4hrs.
Oversees all operations of the box office, including selling ticket prices, providing information about seating options and event details, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Handles cash and credit card transactions, resolves customer inquiries or issues, and maintains cleanliness and organization in the box office area. Enters ticket sales data into computer systems to ensure accurate accounting of ticket sales and revenue. Provides assistance to patrons with questions, concerns, or complaints related to ticketing or events. Contribute to the efficient operation of the box office and the overall success of events and performances.
Audio Visual Technician $25/hr - 4 hrs minimum
Operates and maintains lighting, projections and sound equipment for live events, performances, or productions. Sets up and adjusts lighting fixtures, sound systems, and audiovisual equipment according to technical specifications and artistic requirements. Coordinates cues and effects during performances, ensuring smooth transitions and optimal audiovisual quality. Troubleshoots technical issues and performs routine maintenance on equipment. Works closely with directors, performers, and production teams to achieve desired aesthetic and technical effects.
General Crew $18/hr or $50 shift minimum - most shifts are less than 4hrs.
Responsible for various tasks necessary for the successful execution of events. Duties may include setting up and dismantling equipment, arranging seating or staging, assisting with sound and lighting operations. Sets up and strikes props, scenery, and equipment as needed and ensuring the overall smooth running of events.
Bartending ($25 shift pay plus tips )
Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers. Takes orders, mixes ingredients, and garnishes drinks according to recipes or customer preferences. Checks identification to verify legal drinking age and ensures responsible alcohol service. Maintains cleanliness of the bar area, restocks supplies, and processes payments. Provides friendly and efficient customer service, creates a welcoming atmosphere, and promotes menu items.
Internships (10-15 hours a week. $1,200 stipend for the semester or college credit where applicable).
Gain hands-on experience and learning opportunities in all aspects of the theater industry. Interns assist the staff in various tasks, gain practical skills, and observe workplace dynamics. Intern will walk away from the internship with an increased skill set in front of house and guest services, and a better understanding of producing performing arts programming and running a nonprofit organization.
Volunteer (2 hrs volunteering to redeem one free ticket at select events)
Theater Volunteer: Enthusiastic individuals who generously contribute their time and skills to support various aspects of the theater can redeem volunteer hours for theater tickets. Theater volunteers assist with tasks such as ushering, flyer distribution, greeting guests, and setting up and breaking down the chairs before and after a performance.
Usher / Greeter (Rate determined on a case by case basis)
Welcomes and assists guests upon arrival at events, venues, or establishments. Guides attendees to their seats, provides information about the event or venue, and offers assistance as needed. Distributes programs, brochures, or other materials to guests. Monitors audience behavior, enforces venue policies, and ensures the safety and comfort of guests. May also assist with crowd control and emergency evacuations if necessary. Provides friendly and courteous customer service to enhance the overall guest experience.
Catering Staff
Provides support for food and beverage service at events, parties, or gatherings. Assists with food preparation, including plating and presentation, as well as beverage service, including pouring and serving drinks. Sets up and arranges dining areas, buffet stations, and serving trays. Clears tables, replenishes supplies, and ensures cleanliness and tidiness in dining areas. Provides friendly and efficient customer service to guests, addressing their needs and inquiries. Works as part of a team to ensure the smooth and successful execution of catering services.
Security (Rate determined on a case by case basis)
Ensures the safety and security of attendees, staff, and assets during events or gatherings. Monitors entrances and exits to prevent unauthorized access and conducts bag checks or screenings as necessary. Patrols the venue to deter disturbances, enforce rules, and respond promptly to incidents or emergencies. Provides assistance to guests and staff as needed, including directing traffic, assisting with crowd control, and coordinating with emergency services if required. Maintains a visible presence to deter potential threats and ensures a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
