This Scholarship was initiated in 2025 in memory of Marian (most knew her as "Boots") Souder by the Souder Family.

The Souder Family are residents of the Cumberland County area and are recognized for their generational contributions to the local Agriculture Community. Marian encouraged her children as well as many other young persons she mentored to pursue a career in agriculture. She served as a long-time member of the Cumberland Valley Agricultural Advisory Board and was named an Honorary Member of the Cumberland Valley FFA chapter. She was an inspirational advocate for the annual FFA benefit auction, coordinating and gathering donations for the successful fundraising event.

The graduating CV student and recipient of this award should demonstrate academic success and aspire to maintain the goal of continued exceptional performance in effecting positive change in the field of agriculture as they further their education.

Scholarship Award:
- One-time award of $1,000
- Based on academic success and involvement in FFA
- Announced at the annual Senior Awards Ceremony in May
- Check will be written jointly to the successful student and academic institution, which will be sent to the student requesting endorsement, who will forward the check to the appropriate school/university’s financial aid office for credit to the student’s tuition account
- Monies must be applied toward tuition at a post-secondary institution
Scholarship Recipient Criteria:
- Senior at Cumberland Valley High School
- Student must be an active member of the Cumberland Valley FFA Chapter
- Student must have been enrolled in 2 or more Agriculture courses in grades 9-12
- Declare an intention to enroll in a major related to Agricultural Science or Agricultural Mechanics
- Proof of acceptance at a 2- or 4-year educational institution prior to fund distribution
