  • Academic Departments at the U.S. Universities

that have the most international students

    399

    • BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
    • College Initiatives

We have a number of initiatives and programs for college students, including undergrads, grad students, and graduates, and including both US and International students.

Among them are ChangingThePresent.org, ProfilesForHumanity.org, Student-Orgs.org, MentorsLikeMe.org, Green-U.org, Majors-Gateway, and our internship programs. (Some of those are live, and some are preparing to launch).

These programs will help us serve students in multiple ways and will also generate far more funding for worthy nonprofits and schools.

To help our programs grow at colleges nationwide, we need to identify certain people, offices, and departments that will be helpful. This jotform represents one of several research projects to help us grow our engagement with colleges and college students.

      This Project: Academic Departments

We want to reach academic departments at colleges and universities so that they can help get out the word to students about CtP and all our programs.

Unfortunately, there is no directory of those departments, so we ask for your help in researching them. The organization and titles for staff varies among departments and colleges, so it will take you some creativity and diligence to piece them all together. We have tried to make this form as flexible as possible to accommodate that.

Each of Departments can typically reach hundreds or thousands of students, so this is a very high-impact research project and a great way for us to make a bigger difference--for students and for the world.

We appreciate your help on this important project!

    • EASY STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
    • You probably came here from Sheet1 of this Google sheet:

DR 10003 - Academic Departments at US Colleges

      https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10fxJLm0fZ86JvEEncRcjBNc-vY16a-sSuIR5O-S2WEY/edit?gid=0#gid=0

If not, please go to that file and to Sheet1 (the blue tab).

      • See the instructions at the top of that page.
      • We will initially focus on the universities with the largest number of international students, sorted by enrollment. Please start at the top and work your way down the page.
      • Work on each university, one at a time. Start by picking your name from the dropdown in Column A. That will help you keep track of your progress and avoid duplication of efforts.
      • When you select your name in Column A, a customized link to the jotform will appear in column K. Click it, and the form will open in a new tab (so you do not lose your place on the google sheet), already pre-populated with your name, the university name, and the department you are researching, all in the appropriate fields.
      • Note the search term that appears in Column J, such as, "New York University" "Data Analytics". Clicking it will open (in a new tab) a Google search page targeted to that search term.
      • The department's web page should be one of the first few search engine results, after the Sponsored results, which are often ads for competitors.
      • Be sure that you go to the relevant page on the college website, which should always have current info (a page with an article from a news site might be out of date and is less likely to have contact info we need).
      • Add to the form all the info we request.

Just claim one row at a time, since claiming more than one at a time makes it difficult for your teammates. Complete your research on that row, submit it, then return to the google sheet and claim another, one at a time.

Please be diligent and productive, and do as many tasks as you can during the time you work. Remember to work the required 21 hours per week, and be sure to submit your daily reports.

    • YOUR NAME
    • Your Name field will be pre-populated from the URL parameter, which we provide in the "jotform link" column of the google sheet for each university. You should not (and cannot) edit it.

If there is an error in your name, please notify the person who assigned you to this project.

    • THE COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY YOU ARE RESEARCHING
    • The College or University Name field below will be pre-populated from the URL parameter, which we provide in the "jotform link" column of the google sheet for each university. You cannot edit it. If there is a problem with the name, please enter the correct name below.

    • SEARCH TERM FOR THIS SCHOOL AND DEPARTMENT
    • Column J of the Google sheet that sent you here has a clickable link for the search term for this school and department.

When you see the results page, you will probably want to skip the sponsored listings at the top of the page (often competitors) and also be sure you have found the academic department -- not the school of continuing studies.

    • ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT YOU ARE RESEARCHING
    • Here are some department or program names used instead of or alongside Data Analytics:

      • Data Informatics
      • Informatics
      • Business Analytics
      • Information Systems / Management Information Systems (MIS)
      • Quantitative Methods
    • If you were truly diligent and could not find the department, please proceed to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button so that we have a record of this.

    • Your reply to the following question will control conditional logic, which determines what fields appear after it.
