WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PETITION

WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PETITION

Protect Our Staff in Queensland Hospitals
  • 1

To: Health Minister Shannon Fentiman MP

We the undersigned believe that it is unacceptable that an overwhelming majority of Queensland Health staff have experienced violence at work without adequate support from their employer.

We believe that it is unacceptable that our frontline health staff don’t have the protective equipment, training, security staff, support or legislative protections they need to maintain a safe work environment.

We call on the Government and Queensland Health to support the AWU’s Queensland Health Workplace Violence Action Plan for better equipment, more security, fit-for-purpose training, streamlined WorkCover claims and legislative protections in the Criminal Code.

In order to move the Government to action to address the safety concerns at your health facility, we will need to hear from your experiences whilst working at a Queensland Health Facility. Our stories are powerful, and they can bring to light the drastic changes that are needed by Queensland Health to make sure incidents like yours are not repeated. This process is anonymous – anything you provide us will not be used or shared in any way without your express consent.
