  • What is ACC’s Leadership Accelerator? 

  • This high-impact, immersive program for early career ACC members focuses on developing leader knowledge, skills, and experience through a series of innovative modules in a small group format. The goal of the program is to further develop the skills of promising leaders that can be applied in their institutions and within ACC. Each year, a new “class” will be selected to participate in the program.

  • What are the eligibility requirements for the program? 

    • A Fellow-in Training (FIT), Fellow, or CV Team member within the first seven years out of specialty education, residency, or training.
    • Active within a domestic or international Chapter.
    • Active within at least one member section.
    • Participated in at least one live program within the previous twelve months (*including, but not limited to, the Annual Scientific Sessions, an ACC educational course, ACC’s Legislative Conference, a Chapter meeting, etc.)
    • Able to meet the time commitment for in-person and virtual learning sessions. This includes a combination of after-hours and during work for the virtual sessions (which range from 60 to 90 minutes) and during weekends for the two in-person sessions.
  • What topics will be covered in this program? 

  • A skilled facilitator will guide participants through leader agility, energy management, leader impact, storytelling, networking, peer coaching, values, building a foundation of trust, dealing with change, utilizing strengths, and much more.

  • How long will this program last? 

  • The program will kick off with an in-person session September 27th-29th, 2024 in Washington, DC and wrap up in June 2025 (exact dates TBD) with another in-person session. There will be 7 virtual sessions between the in-person sessions in September 2024 and June 2025. If applying for this program, I must be able to attend the in-person session in September.

  • How many participants will be in each class? 

  • 16 participants will be selected for the Class of 2025.

  • Is there a fee for the program? 

  • The fee for the inaugural year of the program will be covered by ACC.

  • Who are the best people to write my statements of support? 

  • Who knows your leadership journey best? Choose a mentor, teacher, colleague, or friend who can best speak to the leadership skills you already possess and how the ACC Leadership Accelerator program can further develop you as a leader. 

    One of your letters of support is advised to come from your supervisor to demonstrate the backing of your institution for participating in this program, how you can benefit from the skills learned, and an awareness and support of the time needed to participate in ACC Leadership Accelerator.

    The selection committee will be looking for letters of support that demonstrate a deep knowledge of a candidate and how their selection to the program will be of benefit to both their institution and ACC.

    Letters of support should be no longer than one page.
