2026 SEMN Synod Food Ministry Grant

The Southeastern Minnesota Synod, ELCA invites congregations to apply for the 2026 SEMN Synod Food Ministry Grant. The funds for the grant are made available through generous donations to the synod's Food Ministry Grant designated fund. There will be up to five (5) grants of $500 awarded in 2026.

Applications will be prioritized based on:
- an innovative response to a community's need for healthy food;
- plans to use the funds by January 31, 2027;
- a commitment to share the story (with photos!) the impact these grant funds have on the community. (Your congregation’s food ministry grant story will be published in RC Weekly, the synod’s weekly e-newsletter.)

Tell us about your community’s food insecurity (hunger) needs.
How will the grant funds address these needs?
Is your congregation currently engaged in responding to food insecurity within your local community? If yes, how is your hunger ministry currently funded (e.g., congregation budget, endowment funds, Thrivent Action Team dollars, special offerings, etc.)?
Who will be responsible for stewarding the grant funds so that they are appropriately used?
In this proposal, are you partnering with other community organizations in addressing food insecurityin your community? If so, which organizations are collaborating with you in this ministry?
One of the requirements for this grant is to share the story of how the grant funds are used. Who will prepare a short article (with photos!) for publication in a 2027 RC Weekly (the synod’s weekly e-newsletter).
