  • ABOUT THE PROJECT

  • SANTA BARBARA ZOO is seeking a diverse ensemble of performers (ages 16 +) with interest or experience in a variety of styles and formats such as improvisation, interactive + immersive theater, theatre for young audiences and puppeteering. 

    SHOW CAST will bring to life bring to life a wide range of engaging experiences for guests of all ages at the Santa Barbara Zoo. This team will be eligible to be cast in a variety of exciting performances throughout the year including: 

    CALTRAILS IMMERSIVE  is a new interactive performance taking place at the Santa Barbara Zoo beginning in Summer 2024. This day-long experience is a living story ecosystem where guests of all ages transform from audience to collaborators, turning a visit to the zoo into a thrilling, playful and empowering adventure. 

    CONSERVATION HUB  is a new interactive performance taking place at the Santa Barbara Zoo beginning in Summer 2024. The Hub engages guests in a hands-on experience that fosters a connection to nature that aligns with the zoo’s conservation message.

    STORYTELLING AND PUPPET SHOWS  Tales of tails are told through puppets, music and imagination in this educational and inspirational celebration of the natural world.

    Previews: July 7 - 19
    Opening Week:  July 21 - 26 
    Rate: $16.00/hour. Non-Union   
    Location: Santa Barbara

  • VIRTUAL AUDITION INFORMATION

    If you will be attending an in-person audition, you can skip this part!

  • Please provide a short video which includes the following: 

    1) Your full name

    2) 1-2 minute true story about yourself and nature/animals
    (Not "in-character" we want to get to know you as a person!) 

    3) 1 minute monologue in any style

    Please note:
    You do not need a professional video set-up of any kind. A simple phone video with clear audio and enough light to see your face is all we need!
