Mary C. Harris Bencoach Scholarship Application
Purpose
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to registered radiologic technologists (ARRT), (ARDMS), (NMTCB) who wish to continue their education in the imaging science field such as the prescribed program in Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, Special procedures, Angiography, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, Radiology, Administration, Education, Sonography, Healthcare Administration/Management or other post-primary certification programs. The Society hopes that this will provide individuals with an opportunity for lifelong learning and professional advancement.
Eligibility
1. Be a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT or other recognized modalities),
2. Be a current VSRT member 1 year prior to the time of application and without lapse to apply for this scholarship.
3. Be in good standing with the VSRT
4. If you are currently attending a course or program, Be in good standing with your educational institution.
Application Deadline
Completed applications must be electronically submitted by January 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM.
This includes:
1. Two Letters of Reference - emailed directly to vsrtweb@gmail.com
a. Remember that the people you have chosen as a reference will be answering questions based on you as a professional team member in the work environment as well as your Educational goals, Professional involvement and Merit. A reference must meet the following criteria: 1)Should be a coworker, colleague, or other imaging professional that is a registered technologist (ARRT. ARDMS or NMTCB) or a radiologist. 2) A Supervisor, director, or someone in the imaging profession that you have served or worked under. References cannot be family members.
2. Your VSRT member number and expiration date
a. Must be good through April
b. If you are not a member, you can apply at vsrt.org
3. Signed FERPA release form to your references and the VSRT
4. Copy of your ARRT card, including expiration date and ARRT number
5. Complete the Essay Questions
6. Resume or CV
Award Details
A total of $2,000 ($500.00 per awardee) is available this year and may be awarded based on the recommendations of the Scholarship Committee; the winner(s).
The winner(s) will be announced at the VSRT Student, Educator, and Technologist meeting in April. The winner(s) will be notified by February 15th. VSRT memberships must be current through at least April to receive any awards.
The Committee has the option to recommend that all, part or none of the scholarship funds be awarded. A minimum of $500.00 will be awarded.
Scholarships are paid directly to the student.
