Our aim is to bring different population groups together at Schlachthof Biel. We want to encourage people who do not normally have direct access to art to participate through our wide-ranging program. The thematic format of the exhibition is intended to arouse the interest of the city's inhabitants and offer the opportunity to make new connections.
We are looking for artists who want to create works that directly engage the population of Biel and will be on display for two weeks at the Schlachthof Biel (31.08.2024 - 14.09.2024). The works can be site-specific and may be based on existing works. There are many possibilities: the works can involve the people of Biel or address topics relevant to the city. As a suggestion, we propose the following themes: watch industry, Röstigraben, bilingualism, multilingualism, history of Biel, integration in Biel. Projects can also address unnamed topics. We are excited to see your proposals!
The Schlachthof Biel is a historic building that has been under monument protection since August 2023. The Schlachthof features residential spaces, operational storage rooms, and a cultural center located in the old canteen of the Schlachthof. The canteen, the exterior walls, and the outside area of the Schlachthof are available to the Papillarya collective for a duration of two weeks.
Artists will receive 500 CHF for production and a 500 CHF fee for participation. We expect a budget calculation with the project proposals.
