Thank you for applying to be a billet family for the 100 Mile Wranglers!
••••••••••
The 100 Mile House Wranglers connect hockey players with host families, also known as "billet" families in hockey organizations. These local families graciously open up their homes to our players, who become a part of their families. In return, the families receive a small monthly stipend to help cover expenses.
Our players, who are typically between the ages of 16 and 20, with the majority falling between 16 and 18 years old, come to 100 Mile House from various cities. Given their young age and the distance from their homes, it is crucial for them to have a stable and supportive home environment during their stay in 100 Mile House. As an organization, we are committed to providing our players and their parents with a safe and nurturing home.
The players will arrive in early September and stay until the end of the regular season or playoffs, which can range from mid-February to the beginning of May. They are given a break during Christmas to spend time with their families.
In many cases, the players' families may visit during the season. It is up to you whether you would like to open your home to the player's family.
We have established team guidelines and policies that both players and billet families must adhere to. We expect our host families to enforce these rules.
Upon acceptance as a Host Family, we provide the Team Guidelines, which cover topics such as curfew, social gatherings, potential issues, house rules, emergencies, who to contact, and appropriate topics of discussion. Our aim is to create a home away from home for our players, allowing them to continue their education and become responsible citizens.
Players will have daily practice. While most players have their own transportation, arrangements for transportation to school and practice will be discussed and worked out with each player and family.
We make an effort to match each player's personality and background with suitable host homes. Additionally, we carefully screen and inform potential host families about our team's expectations.
We appreciate your enthusiasm and interest in our program. If you are interested in housing a player, please complete the application below, and our billet coordinator will be in touch with you.
