Shalom & Welcome to Beit Ahavah RUACH community school 2024-25 / 5785! We have programs all ages, including RUACH for youth (0-pre-K and K-7), families and teens, B’nei Mitzvah Journey, post-B’nei Mitzvah & BAFTY Teens. “RUACH” means wind, spirit and energy which is why we named our youth community this Hebrew word. Welcome to a year of Jewish fun, friendship and creative Jewish learning in a positive Jewish environment!
  • Here are a few questions to help us make this a fantastic learning year:

  • What/When: RUACH offers positive, Jewish school year learning programs, Jewish holiday celebrations and special experiences, and additional community-wide events.  We group the learning into mini-mesters (fall, winter, spring).  "RUACH Arts" (grades K-3) and "RUACH Lab" (grades 4-7) classes meet on Sunday afternoons 3:30-5:00 p.m., with variations/additions for holidays, daylight savings time, family events, outings and special opportunities.  Additional Parent Cafés, Community events, "MishpachArts" often are scheduled concurrently with RUACH on Sundays to add to the energy of Jewish "space."  "Hebrew Havurah" (grades3+) will be offered midweek, geared to learning Hebrew skills and/or as independent learning depending on interest.  The bimonthly "B'nei Mitzvah Journey" cohort is especially for preteens in grades 6-8 who are also embarking upon on honoring their becoming Bar/Bat/Bet Mitzvah in the next 1-2 years.  Tot Shabbat Family Service occurs on the first Friday eve of the month.  Shabbat Services are encouraged for kids and families, scheduled throughout the year and found on the synagogue calendar.  Older Teen events are scheduled at a number of times convenient for teenagers.  Join us for a year of RUACH!

  • RUACH Arts - Grades K-3

RUACH Arts provides a living foundation for immersive creative expression in Jewish education for children and familie, often focused on creative arts modalities and movement.

  • RUACH Lab 4-7

RUACH Lab is a Jewish "laboratory" for older students, with a focus on interdisciplinary projects, exploring spirituality, Torah interpretation, Hebrew and other Jewish languages, Jewish multiculturalism, and Jewish values of repairing the world. Taught by Morah Lux Onigsman.

Note: Grades 3+ can enroll also in Hebrew Havurah.  Grades 6-7+ may also enroll in the B'nei Mitzvah Journey cohort.

  • Hebrew Havurah - Grades 3-7

For new, intermediate and advanced levels.  Thursdays 4-5:30.  (Please indicate if you are interested even if Thursdays are not ideal for you.  We may have flexibility depending on number of registrations.)

  • B'nei Mitzvah Journey cohort - "To Be a Blessing!"

Rabbah Riqi, with additional specialists and curious, compassionate students build community and explore tradition in an engaging and very fun format, while travelling on the road towards "becoming B'nei Mitzvah" (we use both plural form and singular Bar Mitzvah, Bat Mitzvah, Bet Mitzvah -- to mean child responsible for the commandments) within self, with peers, family, the world and all the places and The Place where we find and seek spirituality, using curriculum, discussion and group activities designed for this age.  Includes art, parent-tween learning, Havaya experiential outings, Tikkun Olam/fixing the world projects, prayer services and family Shabbat/Havdalahs.  We encourage creative thinking around building a Jewish experience and a Bet-Mitzvah ritual that is both unique and familiar, deeply connected to: community(Kehilah), nature (Teva), sacred space (Makom), the Torah, your talents and a world greater than ourselves where interconnectedness is a blessing!
