Rapporteur Registration Form Logo
  • Rapporteur Registration Form

For Newly Hired rapporteurs only. This is not a job application.
  • Students interested in rapporteur employment should send a query to univ.seminars@columbia.edu.

Do not fill out this form if you have not been assigned as a rapporteur by a seminar chair or University Seminars staff first.

  • Instructions:

    • Read questions carefully.
    • Review the completed questionnaire to make sure that correct and complete information has been provided.
    • Make sure to click the Submit button at the end of the form.
    • Onboarding is a multi-step process. This form is the preliminary step. Once your form is submitted, you will receive a follow-up email from Gesenia Alvarez (ga2030@columbia.edu) with next steps and additional Human Resources forms to complete.
  • Select the seminar or workshop for which you'll be reporting work hours for this academic year. Most rapporteurs are assigned to at least one group. Keep in mind: you can choose up to three seminars/workshops, but only if you've received approval from the University Seminars office to work for multiple groups this academic year.

You can find a listing of our seminars/workshops at our main website: https://universityseminars.columbia.edu/seminars/

We strongly recommend you meet with at least one of your seminar/workshop chairs before your first event date.

  • For New Employees Only - Immigration (1-9) Form - required by Columbia University Human Resources: All new employees (Faculty/Staff/Students) are required to complete a federally mandated I-9 Immigration Form no matter what your immigration status is. You are not an official hire until this form is completed and filed accordingly.

Please select this link and follow the instructions from the CU Human Resources website carefully: https://humanresources.columbia.edu/I9-everify

VERY IMPORTANT: For the purpose of the I-9 Form, the date you complete this form is your "DATE OF EMPLOYMENT" or "EMPLOYMENT DATE."

International students with F or J visas will be asked to present a copy of their I-20 form, passport, visa, and any Tax Treaty information to the I-9 office.

For Returning Rapporteurs: Returning rapporteurs may be asked by CU Human Resources to update any I-9 (Immigration) form that is more than three years old. Gesenia Alvarez will contact the rapporteur directly if this pertains to your employment.
