Team volunteering project in Turkiye!

Location: Mus, Turkey

Project period – 06/08/2024 to 03/10/2024

Sending organization: “Common Sense” Youth Organization

Purpose of the project:

The purpose of the project is to create a collaborative platform for non-governmental organizations, public and private institutions, young people, and cancer patients from various countries to unite in the fight against cancer. The project aims to raise awareness and discuss important topics such as risk factors (smoking, obesity, physical inactivity), prevention mechanisms, support needs, and treatments. Throughout the event, there will be sessions dedicated to awareness, research, the use of technology in oncology, and personal testimonials. The goal is to enhance understanding and develop effective strategies for cancer prevention and treatment.

Activities during the project:

Weekly meetings
Preparation of the 11. International Oncology days
Visit youth organisations 1x week
Visit to restaurants/ cafes/ tea houses
Visit and application of the company pack
Management of the project's digital platforms (social networks, website, podcast, etc.)
Reflection sessions: every friday there will be reflection activities led by the Mentors
Overview meeting: Every week there will be a meeting with all the volunteers to make a follow-up of the week

Participants profile:

– Age: 18-30 years;
– Volunteer experiences;
– Knowledge about topics such as lung cancer; smoking; healthy lifestyles; and mental health;
– Proactivity and adaptability;
– Past experiences with minorities in society;
– Commitment to participate actively in all phases of the project;
– Desire to acquire and share know-how;
– Willingness to learn about other traditions/culture.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements:

Maximum travel reimbursement for Azerbaijan: 275 €
All volunteers will stay in the same building, with 2-3 volunteers per room. At the building, all facilities are available (hot water, natural gas, etc)
You will take 5 € each day for pocket day
You will take 100 € each month for food

Genc Caba Dernegi

Genc Caba Dernegi was established for the purpose of carriying out local activities in Muş. Our aims are to enlighten young people between the ages of 14 and 30 about youth projects and activities organized both in Turkey and Europe, to make them conscious of their right and responsibilities, to support them to do their prudential projects and to contribute to be organized.
Our association especially organized various activities about young people and women in the countryside. Also, we attended plenty of national and international seminars, conferences and meeting. Our members live in Muş and they participate in activities and studies in order to enhance young people's spirit of entrepreneurship who live in the rural area in particular and they help them to be more active and productive citizens. In addition, many activities and events have been organized in the cultural area.
