Watermelon Weiner Dog Derby

Limited to 25 Dog-Contestants! 5 Heats of 5. Final Race to consist of the 5 1st place winners from each heat to determine the Overall 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place. 1. One entry per wiener dog. 2. Two people are required for each wiener dog, one at the race gate & one at the finish line. 3. All humans involved must sign a consent and waiver releasing event staff, sponsors and venue from all liabilities and to use their names and likenesses in future promotional material. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times when not racing or preparing to race. 5. NO FOOD will be permitted in the racing area. This includes any kind of doggy treat. Nothing edible will be allowed. Humans may use bells, whistles, toys etc. to coax dogs to finish line. 6. If your dog has been in heat during the 4 weeks prior to the race, do NOT bring them to race! 7. Owners may use a toy or treat to entice the dog, but you must stay at each end until the dog comes to you! The toy or treat may not be thrown or tossed. No loud devices, laser pointers, or anything that would be distracting to the other dogs. 8. Dogs will be loaded into starting gate by their owner and held until race starts. 9. Humans at finish must remain entirely behind designated line past the finish line until ALL dogs have crossed the finish line. You may NOT run along beside your dog. 10. Dogs will be provided with a numbered doggy bandana to identify them in the race. 11. The purpose of this event is to have FUN. Judges’ decisions are final and not open to discussion. For the safety of everyone concerned, event organizers reserve the right to refuse participation to humans who cannot follow the rules. 12. All entrants must be real wieners (dachshunds) and may be required to show proof of current shots upon request. 13. Please pay attention to event personnel before and after each race. Screaming, insulting, or arguing with any official will get you immediately disqualified. 14. Failure to follow any of these rules may result in disqualification. 15.
