Athena Configuration Request Logo
  • Athena Configuration Request

  • There are two types of requests:

    • On-Call Services - select this if you are requesting 24/7 manual analysis of seismic events for a specific operation.
    • Notification / AOI Creation - select this option if you are requesting configuration changes to notification routes and/or AOIs that are not part of a standardor enahanced on-call service.

  •  - -
  • Note: For services subject to additional charges, a quote will be based on your Operation Start and Anticipated End dates. The Anticipated End date will be used to automatically generate a reminder email to you one day before the operation is scheduled to conclude.

Important: Services such as notifications and on-call support will not automatically stop on the end date. These services will remain active until you formally confirm that the operation is over. Continued service may be subject to additional charges.

  • On-Call Service Request

  • Service deliverables include:

    • Setup and configuration of magnitude-based event source parameter trigger threshold.
    • For operations with standard (M2.0+) on-call services, the AOI can be as large as the entire array. For operations with enhanced on-call services (
    • Standard manual event source parameter review by a qualified analyst, for any event with automatically-calculated magnitude M2.0+ and automatic AI-computed event epicenter within the configured AOI, up to 30 minutes from event detection time
    • Setup and configuration of email, text or alert by phone call external notifications based on event source parameters, aforementioned area of interest (AOI) and target contact information provided by the client.

    Standard service terms:

    • The on-call service relies on AI-based automatic event detection and processing algorithms with inherent uncertainties. As such, there is a (low) probability of a missed enhanced on-call service trigger due to the low-quality of the automated event solution. Nanometrics will employ appropriate magnitude and event location buffers to minimize the probability of missed notifications due to low-quality automatic solutions.
    • The on-call service order and required configuration information will need to be provided 48h ahead of the planned service start time.
    • Reasonable efforts will be made to enable the service in cases where the request is provided with less than 48h lead time.
    • Configured service and notification log will be provided as a confirmation of the service order and associated system configuration.
    • Clients will be required to provide (via Nanometrics-provided form) enhanced monitoring start date, end date, notification data (alert levels and source parameters defining each alert level), placemark coordinates as well as the contact information (name, role, alert level, alert type, email, phone #) for all individuals who are to receive enhanced on-call-related alerts.
    • Call lists are limited to a defined set of personnel for the entirety of the operation. Rotation of personnel schedules throughout the operation is not in scope.
    • The on-call service will terminate on the configured end date unless the client initiates an updated enhanced service order with at least 24h lead time.
  • Area of Interest and Operating Location

  • Please select the Configuration Type below.

    • Standard Configuration: Nanometrics will configure a simple, circular AOI based on a customer-provided latitute, longitude, and radius.
    • Custom Configuration: Nanometrics will take customer-provided files in a standard format to either upload provided features into Athena or create a custom AOI.
  • Standard Configuration

Standard configurations are setup with a circular AOI with a radius of up to 10 km (6.5 miles) from the latitude and longitude provided below.
  • Custom Configuration

Custom configuration shape or kml/kmz files can be provided to be uploaded into your Athena portal. Customers can choose to provide their AOI, or request that Nanometrics generate the AOI based on the well traces / facility details provided.
  • Please upload your custom well traces, or other layers / facilities please upload below in either shape file or Google Earth formats only.

  • Email and SMS Notifications

  • Specify or upload a list of users, emails and phone numbers as well as magnitude-based thresholds for alerts. Alert thresholds must include a Minimum Magnitude threshold.

    Notification notes:

    • When specifying a Maximum Magnitude, please note that it is up to but does not include the value while Minimum Magnitude is greater than or equal to the value. For example: for alerts where the Minimum = 2.00ML and the Maximum = 2.50ML, any events that are greater than or equal to 2.00ML BUT less than 2.50ML will trigger the notification.
    • If the Maximum Magnitude is left blank, Nanometrics will provide alerts for that user for all events above the Minimum Magnitude.
    • If a phone number and email is provided for a user, they will be configured for SMS and email notifications. If just one of either a phone number or email is provided, the user will be configured for just SMS or email.
    • Notifications can be provided for Automatic and/or Manual events.
      • Automatic events are those triggered by Nanomettrics's automatic event detection system and have not been reviewed by a Data Analyst.
      • Manual events have been fully reviewed and processed by a Data Analyst.
    • Notifications will apply to the specified AOI only.
  • Alternatively, notification schemes can be uploaded in .xls, .xlsx, or .csv format using the uploader below. If contact information is not entered in the table above, an uploaded list of contacts and thresholds is required.

You may also use this standard Nanometrics Template and upload it below.

  • Phone Notifications

  • Specify or upload a list of users, phone numbers and magnitude-based thresholds for alerts. Alert thresholds must include a Minimum Magnitude threshold.

Only clients who are recieving standard or enhanced on-call services are elegible for phone notifications. This elegibility will be reviewed by Nanometrics prior to implementation.

    Phone notification notes:

    • When specifying a Maximum Magnitude, please note that it is up to but does not include the value while Minimum Magnitude is greater than or equal to the value. For example: for alerts where the Minimum = 2.00ML and the Maximum = 2.50ML, any events that are greater than or equal to 2.00ML BUT less than 2.50ML will trigger the notification.
    • If the Maximum Magnitude is left blank, Nanometrics will provide alerts for that user for all events above the Minimum Magnitude.
    • The Order / Priority field can be used to set the order of who should be called.
    • A phone notification includes a phone call either by a third-party service or Nanometrics Data Analyst confirming event details.
    • Phone notification can only be provided for Manually reviewed events.
    • Phone notifications will apply to the specified AOI only.
  • Alternatively, notification schemes can be uploaded in .xls, .xlsx, or .csv format using the uploader below. You may also use this standard Nanometrics Template and upload it below.

  • Next Steps

  • A member of the Nanometrics Data Center as well as your Sales Representative will review your request and reach out for any potential clarifications.

If you have requested on-call services, your Nanometrics Sales Representative will provide you with a final quotation for the service level chosen (if it is not alreay included in your existing service agreement).

If you require changes after this form has been submitted, or throughout the duration of the on-call service, please email datacenter@nanometrics.ca.

Athena configurations are performed by the Data Center team 7-days a week during normal business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST).
