POST CARE: Instructions Cellavate Procedure
The Cellavate Procedure uses your body's natural proteins to provide support to the urethra. Absorption of these proteins lead to your body to create inflammatory chemicals to allow regeneration of endogenous tissue. Regeneration should be long lasting by increasing the body's natural collagen, and elastin production. The procedure may be repeated on an annual basis if needed but should last at least 2 years.
A support surgery may still be needed if an inadequate response is encountered over the next year. After the procedure is completed, you may notice bleeding from the injection site and some bruising.
- Avoid intercourse
- Do not use tampons
- No Tub baths or immersion in water for 2 weeks
- You should be able to urinate within 6 hours post procedure
If unable to urine, please notify the office prior to 4 pm, so we can place a catheter overnight. The catheter would be removed the following day.
You will be given Macrobid, or equivalent, twice a day for 5 days, starting the day of the procedure and continue for 5 days following the procedure, This prevents urinary tract infection.
If you develop a temperature over 101 F, you may take Tylenol 1000mg OR Ibuprofen 600 mg by mouth every 8 hours. Notify the office if this occurs.
Drink plenty of fluids and rest the day of the procedure, but you may resume your normal activities the next day.
