PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Hawaii’s construction industry faces a severe labor shortage that threatens our ability to meet the state’s growing affordable housing demands. To increase capacity and develop future leaders in the building industry, we are launching the inaugural cohort of the Hui Kapili Accelerator, a 10-week program co-sponsored by American Savings Bank and Hawaii Home + Remodeling Magazine. Hui Kapili aims to empower leaders of small and mid-size construction-related companies with the skills, business acumen and relationships needed to succeed in Hawaii’s competitive market.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Applicant must be an owner or manager-level employee of a small-to-midsize business in the construction industry (builders, suppliers, consultants, etc.).
- Business must be locally-owned and operated within the state of Hawaii.
- Business must be in good standing, have been in operation for a minimum of 3 years, and must have all business licenses required to perform their duties in the State of Hawaii.
- Annual gross revenue for 2023 must be at least $250,000.
- Applicant must commit to attending at least 9 of the 11 scheduled sessions in-person in Honolulu.
Businesses from all islands, especially minority- and Native Hawaiian-owned, are invited to apply. (Participants are responsible for all travel-related expenses.)

GIVE BACK REQUIREMENT

In lieu of a program fee, cohort participants will select and complete a meaningful community "give back" project utilizing their collective experience and expertise.
