More About The Book:
For generations many women across the globe have fought and continue to fight for the opportunity to be heard, to participate in the decision-making process, and to live life on their own terms. Over the years women have made many strides, and today we hold very important positions in government, large organizations, and have made valuable contributions to our respective communities. However, for women the struggle continues, and we now find ourselves often performing a balancing act that requires us to now design a life that not only allows us to survive, our work life, home life and community life, but one that allows us to thrive.
Every society comes with its own set of social norms and mores that govern how the country is organized; and in doing so influences our decision-making process. Suffice it to say any society without norms and laws can be easily thrown into utter chaos. However, at this present time (2024) and space women have become accustomed to pursuing their goals despite sometimes having to deal with the lack of support from various sectors of society. Today women have many responsibilities, and it is important that we design a life that not only caters to our workplace, our families, and our community affiliations but also to ourselves.
This anthology is a window into the lives of 21 women who are all heroic in their own rights. The stories in this book are nothing short of motivational and would inspire many to pick up the mantle and fight for their rights like so many women have done before. This book is full of challenges and triumphs; with every generation the baton is passed from one group of women to the next. The women in this book are thought leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and stay at home moms; they come from all walks of life. These women have had the courage to not only envision their goals and desires, but to actively pursue them whether their choices are popular or not. Some of the women are still in the process of designing their life plans, others are midway into living out these plans, and still others are reflecting on the plans they have made, sometimes re-evaluating them to accommodate the growth they continue to make in their lives.
Ultimately, we do not live life in a vacuum, our lives are all interrelated. We women are part of the very fabric of our society; therefore, our needs are all valid and requires a life that is customized. If nothing else this book relates the stories of 21 women as they sought to live lives according to their unique goals. Along the road of life things sometimes go wrong, but these co-authors show that women are resilient in the face of adversity. Creating “living” plans that are periodically edited to facilitate unforeseen circumstances can be quite daunting. However, this book celebrates the women who have written it, and who have had the courage to pursue a life on their own terms.
