PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARDS
The "PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD" was developed as part of the Annual Muslim Convention by Imam W. Deen Mohammed to acknowledge, highlight and honor Muslim-American persons who are making significant contributions to the community through their time, actions, talents, and dedication. In the last 12-24 months, the honoree selected should serve as a role model for good works and community service.
CATEGORIES
1: Man and Woman of the Year (Must be age 31 Years of age and up)
2: Young Man and Woman of the Year (Must be between 20-30 years of age)
3: Youth Male and Youth Female of the Year (Must be 19 years of age and under)
ELIGIBILITY
Any community members may be nominated except for Board, Committee, or Council members of the Mosque Cares and those who have previously received an award from The Mosque Cares. Previous award recipients will not be considered.
CRITERIA
Nominees should have consistently demonstrated community service and good works via business, education, organization, and/or a variety of volunteer activities.
PROCESS
Nominations are submitted to the Convention Planning Committee and will be reviewed by The Mosque Cares and recommendations made. The committee vote determines the winners for that year. If the decision is very close, runner-up(s) will be contacted for follow-up.
PRESENTATION
Awards will be presented at the Annual Awards Banquet (during the Annual Muslim Convention)
