Our school is fully accredited by the Tennessee Department of Education and the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools. Seymour Community Christian School serves children kindergarten through grade twelve. Our mission at Seymour Community Christian School is to provide an excellent Bible-based education, and guide students to Christ-centered living. As a ministry of Seymour Community Church, we view our services as a ministry to our community. We value parent involvement as one of the keys to successful education, we stress that each of our teachers maintain a consistent channel of communication with our parents.
Job Description:
1. Lesson plans for the upcoming week are to be turned in to the administration by the end of school on Monday of each week.
2. A clean room should be maintained daily. This is a direct reflection on the professionalism of the school and the teacher. Each teacher should have his/her area clean before leaving each day.
3. Complete order and discipline must be maintained by the teacher in the class and out. This shall be done in accordance with the School Handbook and Safety and Procedures Manual.
4. Loyalty to this school, staff, including the pastor and administrator, is a vital part of this ministry. Any problems should be taken to the administrator.
5. Every teacher is expected to keep good, accurate records and maintain their gradebook and lesson plans in an orderly manner.
6. Participation in regular in-service training before, during, and after school, is a part of each teacher's responsibility.
7. For any absence, the teacher must notify the administrator as soon as possible.
8. The subject area is to be presented to the student with as much variety, creativity, preparation, and enthusiasm as possible.
9. The parents of students are to be kept informed as to the progress or lack of progress of the student.
10. Teachers are expected to perform any other requests for service made by the school pertaining to the school.
11. The following standards and convictions are part of our ministry and your support in both word and action is necessary: (a) Total abstinence from alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs. (b) Abstinence from attendance at dances, ungodly movies, or other questionable entertainment. (c) All teachers are expected to observe the teacher dress code and dress modestly at all times. (d) Body piercing and visible tattoos are not permissible. (e) All teachers will observe any other standards and convictions stated in the handbook and teacher's manual.
12. Realizing that no person is perfect and mistakes will be made, teachers are expected to do their best for the cause of Christ, to be an example in personal conduct and the Christian walk, being careful to bring no shame or reproach upon the church, school, or the cause of Christ.
13. Teachers are expected to be faithful and regular in attendance at Seymour Community Church or another approved church. They should be actively involved in church ministries and activities, and should be a consistent giver.
