2026 Healthcare Scholarships Application

The Skyline Health Foundation provides two scholarship opportunities:

1) The Brown Nursing Scholarship
2) The Wayne M Henkle, MD Healthcare Education Scholarship (not nursing)

Criteria & Requirements
- One letter of recommendation is required to be uploaded to your application by the submission deadline of April 30, 2025.

- Applicants are able to apply for one of the two scholarships through this single application. The following criteria must be met for the scholarship applicants are applying for:

Brown Nursing Scholarship:
- Must be a resident of the Columbia River Gorge. Skyline Health Employees are encouraged to apply.
- Must be seeking post-secondary education in the nursing field.
- Must be enrolled in a healthcare related course at the time scholarship is distributed.
- Must be dedicated to returning to the Skyline service area to work or volunteer for a period of at least one year, if such employment or service is available.
- Scholarship can be used for educational tuition and books. The educational institution will return scholarship funds exceeding the qualified enrollment expenses to Skyline Health Foundation.
- Scholarship should be used within one year.

Wayne M. Henkle, MD Healthcare Education Scholarship (not nursing):
- Must be a resident of the Skyline Health service area in Western Klickitat County, Skamania County or an employee of Skyline Health. Employees are encouraged to apply.
- Must be seeking post-secondary education in the healthcare field (does not apply for nursing).
- Must be enrolled in a healthcare related course at the time scholarship is distributed.
- Must be dedicated to returning to the Skyline service area to work or volunteer for a period of at least one year, if such employment or service is available.
- Scholarship can be used for educational tuition. The educational institution will return scholarship funds exceeding the qualified enrollment expenses to Skyline Health Foundation.
- Scholarship should be used within one year.

Application Deadline: April 30, 2025. Awards will be communicated in late May/early June 2025.

Award Amount and Distribution: Payment will be made to the educational institution upon proof of enrollment, or to the applicant if the upcoming tuition payment has been made. The number of recipients, as well as the amount annually distributed, is at the discretion of the Skyline Health Foundation Board of Directors.
