Class Policies and Rules:
Kindness
Students will treat each others and their teacher with respect. Students will not put down other students or projects being worked on. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.
Food and Drink
Please do not send any snacks or sugary drinks (sports drink, juice, soda) to class. Snacks/sugary drinks are a distraction and messy. Food spills may ruin your student or someone else’s project and not allowed near sewing machines.
Water in a closed top water bottle is fine.
*Those with medical conditions are the only exception to rule.
Classroom Safety
Irons are used in class and all students are taught the proper use of them. Even the most careful student can burn themselves. First aid burn gel and spray is out for students to use and located at the iron table.
Band-aids are also out in-case they are needed.
Class rules are in each of the student binders and a safety chart is posted. Reminders are given as needed.
Shoes
Shoes must be worn in class at all times. Even with daily pin check and vacuuming, pins still have a way of hiding in the carpet and no one wants to step on a pin.
If your student has slip on shoes like crocs or flip-flops that come off easily they cannot wear those to class. Students who have worn them in the past end up taking them off when working on the floor. Then shoes are either left off and in the way of others or tucked away and forgotten.
If your student participates in an outdoor sports or activity before their sewing class please bring them a clean pair of shoes to wear to class. We do all our cutting and pinning on the floor. Shoes that have tracked dirt/mud make it difficult for fabic to stay clean and for everyone to sit on the carpet and do their cutting and pinning. I have a limited amount time between classes and do not have time to vacuum up whatever was tracked in.
Payment information
Monthly Tutiton:
Tuition for classes is $45.00/*$33.00 per month. PayPal invoices are sent on the 1st of each month due by the 10th. Cash or check please send it the 1st class of each month. If tuition is paid after the 10th a $10 late fee will be charged. Regardless of the number of classes in the month, the tuition is $45.00/$33.00 per month. Tuition is not prorated for missed classes and there are no tuition refunds. These policies apply if a student is sick, or out of town, or forgot, or has homework to do, or any other reason. If a student must miss a class, please notify me by text or email.
*$33.00 is for my twice a month classes
Class Cancellations: If I must cancel due to weather or illness a make-up class will be scheduled.
Make up Classes: I do not offer scheduled make up classes. If I have an opening in another class arrangements can be made for your student to attend. Please remember that a missed class does not mean your student is "behind", my classes are sew at your own pace. Each student learns at their own pace and my classes are mixed skill levels. I want my students to do their best and have pride in what they make not race to check off the list of complete projects.
Class Supplies:
The parent(s) will be responsible for providing the supplies needed such a fabric, thread, notions, etc. Please allow your child to pick fabric, projects are more fun if it is something they love. Their patterns and instruction book will be left in their basket in the classroom, so items are not lost or forgotten each week.
Students will come home with a printed supply list, or a note from me. It will be sent home in advance of each project, occasionally two lists will be sent together if the chosen project is one that can be completed in one or two class times.
I will never tell your student to buy supplies for a project without sending home a list of what fabric type and amounts or notions that are needed. If you student tells you otherwise, please text or email me. If the supply list is misplaced, please let me know asap and I will send a new list or picture though text or email.
**When a list is sent home supplies will be needed sometime during the next two classes they attend, depending on how fast your student sews, or if there are any corrections that need to be made. When supplies are not sent your student has nothing to do during class. I do not provide supplies for students who are not prepared.
Pick/Drop Off
Do not send you student into class more than 5 min early. If you arrive early please have them wait in your vehicle until your class time.
Please be in prompt picking up your student, as I do have multiple classes each day. If you are running more than 5 minutes late for pick up or drop off, please text me, and let me know so I do not send them out to wait in the driveway or on the sidewalk. Students may not wait on my patio, or play set for class to begin or for pick up.
